Has anyone used gabapentin for fibromyalgia?

I was wondering is anyone has tried gabapentin for fibromyalgia, and if so how did it work for you.

gabapentin increases the painkiller effects. (if you ever took a painkiller) its called an adjuvant treatment.

I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My father had it, and my brother has it. I was prescribed Lyrica, which is a new drug in the same family as gabapentin. However, Lyrica was designed to be stronger, and is a controlled substance. I have had pretty good results with it. My arm and leg pain no longer keep me up at night, however it does not touch my back pain. The only thing is - it kind of makes you feel like your heads are up in the clouds the first week or so, but it goes away. Gabapentin is milder than Lyrica, so I'm sure the results will be just as such. All the best for you!

I have Fibromyalgia and when I first read "Gabapentin" I couldn't remember what it was. It is the brand "Neurontin" (the link below is to that particular drug) a anti-seizure medicine that is now being used for a various of illnesses. Bi-Polar as a mood stabilizer (which is what I took it for), Migraines, etc.

However, I use this particular web site for a opinion of various of drugs for the above and if I do not make a comment on how it effects me "they" can give you a heads up on what might help or a idea to try if your doctor has no other suggestions.

Neurontin is widely used for a multitude of complaints by neurologists. I am sure they have used it for this rather non specific painful disorder.
