They hurt so bad my entire left upper and lower jawbone feel like someone is jabbing an ice pick in them when i try to eat yogurt. Are there really dentists who work with people who have phobias? I know I sound stupid but i'm just so afraid, i had two real bad experiences with dentists in the past.

JUST....RELAX!!
most dentists give you an analgesic or just a local anaesthesia which numbs the area they work on so you won't feel a THING!!
really!!
so just take a deep breat....tell yourself this dental treatment is ABSOLUTELY necessary or this toothache would KILL you if you do NOT go to the dentist
and get an appointment!!
good luck!! =)

I can relate 100%. I have the same fear...You do need to go to the dentist. If you don't, the teeth around the 2 that are already bothering you can become infected.
When I go to the dentist, I always bring along my cd player and make sure I have music that is either soothing to me and/or loud so I can't hear the equipment while the dentist works.
I just had to get a root canal recently because I refused to go to the dentist until I could no longer tolerate the pain. I waited until the pain was so horrible I couldn't sleep. And, I almost fell asleep while the dentist was working from being so exhausted. It wasn't so bad then...Maybe you should deprive yourself of some sleep and then go when you're totally exhausted...And have someone you trust drive you so you don't need to worry about falling asleep at the wheel.

I sympathize completely - I'm a dental phobe as well. The thing that helped me more than anything is to find a dentist that has the appropriate plumbing for the use of nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas." It helped me be a LOT more relaxed in the dentist's office. In addition, check with dental referral agencies, and find out if there is a dentist near you that specialized in phobic patients - there really ARE such people, and that makes a huge difference. Good luck!

Hiya, I also have a major issue with dentists. One dentist managed to snap a needle in my gob, and ever since ive been terrified of them. The best place ive found is an aneathetic clinic where they give u an injection in your arm, that makes u really spaced out n sleepy, and then u really dont care what they do to ur mouth. The clinics staff are always specially trained in scared patients, and always give u as much time as u need, if u need a lot of treatment, they work with u to gradually make u more confident with dentists. Its worked for me, whilst i still hate going, i no longer pass out at the dentists front door (as i used to) hope this helps, but most of all, remember ur not alone, theres loads of us that have the same thing!

Sounds like you have alot of fear of the dentist. You need to find a dental practice you are comfortable with like the dentist. It will help alot. There are things you can do to not let your teeth go to the point where they are hurting if you want to keep them. There are dentist that dont want to hurt you. And they really care about how you feel I have one. By the way Im not a good patient.

If your teeth are hurting you really need to just go to the dentist. I understand exactly what you are talking about thouogh. I have a cavity and I won't go until it starts to hurt. I hate dentists more than anything. But when the time comes I will go, but not one minute before.

It is normal to be scared of Dr's at times but now u have a toothache and probably others dental problems. Just make an appointment for the checkup-exam, let them talk to u about what u need and see how u feel with them. They will make u feel better if u let them know you're scared. There are also alternatives to make u feel less scared. When u schedule for the dental work ask them to prescribe somethings to make u feel more relaxed just before the appointment and also ask if they have nitrous oxide(laughing gas) for patients like u. You'll feel better after u get your dental problems taken care of.

The dentist isn't there for fun. It is necessary. Just go and don't be a baby.
