Plasmas are generally larger sets and technology to make LCD's larger is still under way. What made me decide against the plasma is that they have a shorter life expectancy. When the plasma wears out, it's shot. When the LCD wears down, you only have to replace a bulb to make it like new again. That made my decision easy.

I have thought about which one I would get as well. I have decided on plasma technology.

A while back, LCD's used to be much more expensive than Plasma's per square inch. Now they have equalled out to about the same as long as you are talking about screen sizes below about 42".

LCD's have traditionally also had a problem with motion blur, which was very obvious to me when watching any sort of movement on the sample videos at the store. I've heard that the newer sets have improved on this.

Plasma's have been known to "burn-in" if you keep an image on the screen for too long. Such as a stock ticker or news ticker on the bottom of the screen. They have generally overcome this problem though with newer models.

Now, down to business:
But, even with newer models... Plasma's are able to display much darker blacks than LCD. Blacks on the LCD will look a bit more washed out and will not have that nice punchy contrast to the picture as well as a Plasma will. [That's a PLUS for PLASMA]

Also, LCD's have a much narrower viewing angle than plasma's. This is a bad thing. Put yourself in front of any LCD screen...computer or tv... and then move yourself to the side. The more you move to the side and view the screen at an angle, the darker picture becomes and the harder it becomes to see it. You can view plasmas at a much larger viewing angle. [Another PLUS for PLASMA]

On top of all this, LCD screens, almost always have a small percentage of "dead pixels" or pixels on the screen that just don't work or light up. The manufacturer will not take your TV back unless it has a certain percentage of these dead pixels. But, there's always going to be some, though usually it will be hard to notice. [Another PLUS for PLASMA]

If you want a really large size screen...like above 42inches diagonal, plasma's are still the better 'Bang for the buck".

PLASMA is definetely better.

Personally I love Plasma. Plasma to me has a more rich look to it with darker blacks. Older Plasmas used to have burn-in issues, that is better now.

LCDs are getting much better. One of the problems they have had is with fast moving images being blurry. You can check that before purchasing.

Costco sells a 42" Vizio plasma for $1299 that is nice.

Sony sells some nice LCDs under their Bravia line.

If you play alot of video games, I'd consider an LCD. If you watch tons of movies, consider Plasma.

I went through this and bought a 40 inch Samsung LCD. Its freaking awesome.

Plasmas are more expensive to repair, harder too, if something goes wrong. Also they can burn out easily and the picture can "burn into the screen" (hard for me to elaborate on that).

I did alot of research, and I'm very very happy.

liquid crystal demonstrate and plasma are exceptionally close, the two are able to magnificent photos. One great factor approximately liquid crystal demonstrate is that that's proof against demonstrate screen burn-in. Plasma monitors are nonetheless in threat of burning any nonetheless photos into the demonstrate screen, which includes in case you leave the demonstrate screen on pause for prolonged cases, or play a video pastime, with a emblem or different unchanging demonstrate interior the nook. i could easily stay faraway from DLP television's myself. they're greater low priced than different HDTV's, however the image can fade out whilst seen from the edge, like older rear-projection instruments. DVI is sturdy, yet HDMI is changing it rapidly. the two DVI and HDMI have an identical image high quality, the two digital. HDMI purely is going the greater step and provides digital audio alongside an identical cable, which no longer purely makes hookup less difficult, yet additionally might desire to shop you a pair of greenbacks on cabling expenses, finding on your hookup. many makers are already steerage faraway from DVI, in prefer of HDMI. You pronounced you have a working laptop or laptop you need to hookup. Many new HDTV's truthfully have a VGA enter, making it rather consumer-friendly to hookup a working laptop or laptop, and get the terrific image available from it. in case you will discover one with that already, that would desire to artwork properly for you.
