You better get a pen and paper....could be a lot of things:
1. Bad EGR Valve
2. Bad Spark Plug(s) / Wire(s)
3. Bad Gas
4. Trash clogging fuel line, filter or injectors
5. Timing is off
6. Oxygen Sensor gone bad
I'm sure there may be other possibilities, but I'd have these things checked first...... good luck!

when was it tuned up last ? have you changed the fuel filter ? if it is fuel injected at throttle body or port ; check for correct rail pressure(port inj) or line pressure (throttle body inj)injectors rarely go bad .If it is off spec change the fuel filter first ,fuel pressure regulator may be going bad,or in tank pump may be going bad .Also check for a plugged catalytic converter (see if the exhaust is comming out efficiently from the tail pipe )if not it may be plugged up separate the converter(s) pipe or pipes from the head pipe flange to the converter this will open your exhaust if it was plugged it will run right on a test drive .usually if that cures the sluggish acceleration you will find the tip or tip's of the oxygen sensors may be burned off due to the extra heat from the plugging of the converter .I turned my converter into an expansion chamber when mine plugged and replaced my oxygen sensor at about 114,000 miles on my 3.9 v6 dakota I have almost 200,000 miles on it now and it has never failed me since.

The symtoms you describe indcate a drivability issue/problem. Your car has "old" school technology,Carb/ignition points/mech,fuel pump/etc.......I would first check spark plugs/worn/fouled. The engine probably needs compression test for worn valves/compression..........if your lucky! ,a major tune-up will fix your ride. Good luck!

It wants to be serviced by someone who knows what he is doing. In other words , get a tune-up done by a good reputable mechanic.
