Well spelling with one r or two rr's doesn't seem to make a difference, I can read it and speak some just can't roll the rr's.
Is there any true born mexicans who can't speak? and could it be the shape of my mouth or teeth?

I can feel the tip of my tongue at the roof of my mouth and I feel it flip a few times, but it's not close to what everyone else can do, even my daughter can do it. I just wonder if it's not because my mouth is narrow between my teeth or something. I am really fustrated.

Say "pot-o-tea" over and over again, when you say that your tongue makes the same motion as when you roll your 'r's. That's how I learned to do it.

Well, if your husband would be from an Andean country, like Bolivia, he wouldn't be rolling his RRR's either! In those countries the RRR's are said with a sound emitted through almost clenched teeth, sort of like a cross between a Shhhhh and a Zzzzzzz.....try Zzhhhh? I tell my spanish students not to worry about it. A native Mexican can understand a native Bolivian with no problem! (-:

All i can inform you is prepare. plenty! lol! i can't rather roll my tongue the two, and that i've got been conversing Spanish on the grounds that preschool. prepare any be conscious with the double rr's and ask different human beings. i understand Spanish little ones are not born with the roll, yet they at last study to do it. exposure is the biggest... i'm handling an identical undertaking. i Adios !

It's impossible to learn a second language after the age of 12 without having an accent. Forget about rolling the RRRs. It's not important to communication and without it you can still make yourself perfectly understood. Your accent is part of your charm.

i work with a bunch of mexicans and have learned some spanish, but i cant roll my rs either. there are alot of spanish spellings with more than 1 r. maybe thats why they roll them. the question you should ask is how long do you roll your rs and why is there a difference in words and who is saying them. some roll alittle longer than others. the final thought is, if thats all you have to worry about..............

It may sound strange, but this is how I learned: my cat taught me when I was in high school and just starting spanish classes. His 'prrrrr' actually helped. another thing, is that touching your tip of the tongue to the roof of your mouth actually helps and is part of the manner of speaking spanish. If you have a cat, know one, have fun....just mimic the cat prrrsss.....like i said, it may sound crazy, but it really helped me!!!
