My sister is always saying things about me that aren't true to make herself look better. She is older then me but I have a career and am financial stable. It doesn't bother me until mutual friends tell me things that she says.

Of course you forgive her, she's your sister, but you do need to sit down and have a long heart to heart with her!! Obviously she's jealous of you and all your accomplishments!! I'm sure you're hurt by things that she's said, but try and remember she's family. There are too many family members that don't speak to each other b/c of things just like this. Please don't be one of them!! Good luck and I hope that your sister will really listen to you and realize that she's wrong and that you love her, but that her actions and words are hurting you!!

Is this my sister? Oh, sorry it would be the other way around if so.

Obviously you have a case of (very common) sibling jealousy on your hands.

You ask if you should forgive her. Did she ask to be forgiven? You should confront her and tell her to stop the lies.

Either way, the Bible says you have to forgive her even if she's not sorry. So be the better person and forgive her. Tell her God is going to strike her dead if she doesn't stop (just kidding about that part!)

Forgive her yes, but I could wait for a the right setting with your sister and several mutual friends present. Then I would directly confront the issue. It is the only way to get her to stop. Exposure.

The fact that your mutual friends are repeating this to you is quite disturbing.
If I am with mutual friends & one starts dogging on her sister/brother that I am also a friend of, I would stand up for them & not allow some thing wrong to be said out of school about them.
Other than that she may have a malevolent type personality, where you are just going to have to show her & your friends that you are no dummy!

Forgive she is your sister, sibling rivalry exist even when we grow up, you being stable are no competition for her so she has to fill in the void in herself. If it really tears you up then have a mature non emotional talk with her and offer to help.

it's just a bad habit she hasn't grown out of yet.
sibling rivalry.
I bet a lot of what she says is to draw attention away from you and on to herself.
Still, the fight must go on.
Here in Yahoo! Answers you have landed the first punch by declaring yourself as having a career and being financially stable.
It's a subtle hint, a way of saying neither applies to her.
I await with interest her response. I already know she will try to upstage you, the question is how?

Confront her and tell her that you know that she is saying these things - she may be embarrassed enough to quit simply because she didn't know that you would find out - also if your friends are coming back and telling you these things then they already know that it is not true and that she was lying and you should point that out to her also

always forgive

I have a sister just like that, once she put me in the dryer then i got in trouble for breaking the dryer lid. EXCUSES ME FOR WANTING TO LIVE!
anyways she's a @#$^&*( and your true friends really don't care, on a higher note when she gets older she's going to get really fat, really really FAT, SO FAT NO ONE WILL LOVE HER!

Then you'll be the hottie and she'll be all alone and owing MCDonalds money on a credit card she opened up with them and couldn't pay back, but dont help her out. She's an @#$%^&*(!

Stay skinny. :)

I think it's best to forgive but don't forget. Stay away from such people, they are sick in the head. If you entertain them, you will have a life of drama. Let the dead bury the dead and you go have your life with the living.
