I live in Mexico. Eggs are sold neither refrigerated nor are they stored with the pointy end facing down. Until recently the super markets never gave an expiration date and in the small Mom & Pop stores it still isn't. There they are sold loose in a plastic bag. I've never heard of anyone getting sick from eating eggs. I wouldn't worry.

i used to eat cake batter and cookie dough that had raw eggs mixed in. I never got sick from that.
The media doesn't know sh*t.
Remember many years ago they said eggs are good then bad for having cholesterol then a few years after that they said never mind, eggs are good for you but now you need to wash your hands completely after handling them so you don't get salmonella. I never got salmonella and noone I know did either from handling eggs and other poultry. My grandmother cooked from scratch all the time and she never got sick nor did we from her cooking. We simply rinsed our hands after handling.
So the answer is...eat up. Eggs are good for about 2 weeks after the expiration date. The expiration date is there so that the egg companies and vendors that sell them are off the hook if you get sick after the date shown. The same with vitamin supplements and soda. It's an arbitrary date. To keep our litigate society from cashing in in case of illness or death.
Thank you, have a nice day.

I say yes you sure can, many foods are even guaranteed fresh 7 days past that actual date, sometimes the date is the last day it can be SOLD not nec. consumed!
Do you know this old trick? To see if an egg is fresh enough to eat, place it in a bowl or cup of water, if it SINKS it is safe, if it FLOATS, toss it!
It's never been wrong for me!

here a way to tell if it's good without cracking the shell:
PLace the egg in a bowl of water, if it floats on it's side it is fresh, if it floats vertically with rounded end up it is 2-3 weeks old, (still edible) if it floats on the surface the egg is no good. the older the egg the larger the air pocket.

yes... crack the egg. You will know if it is rotten right away. Most likely you can use eggs for as much as a week or more past the date if the eggs have been refrigerated and you cook them. Don't eat them raw.

Yes. We use eggs way past their date WITHOUT food poisoning or other bad effects. The date is a guideline, not a scientific fact. Most milk is the same way.

Yes. The date on the end of the carton is generally the recommended "sell by" date.
Did you know that when egg farms send there products overseas (China) they send them by ship and that it takes a month for them to get there..

yes as long as they've been refrigerated. i've used them weeks after. it's not actually an experation date its a best if used by date, which simply means it may lose some of the quality. that goes for almost all items, the only thing i'd be leary of is milk if it smells.
