When she wants expensive things: clothes, jewelery, perfume, etc.
Houses, cars, food,...anything that costs lots of money makes a girl high maintenance...

When she doesn't admite that she is.
All women are high maintenance. At least some are honest about it. They're not so bad to deal with.
It is the ones who really think they aren't that are the hassle.

THE NEED FOR MATERIALISTIC THINGS like MONEY, fancy nails, new sports car, expensive jewelry, fine perfumes, only good looks in men, being part of the so-called upper crust. I really think it is the lack of self asteem so they try to compensate with the best & most expensive things, trying to somehow be enveyed by everyone! It does not work, they only appear shallow and very dependant. And crave to stand out.

im 35 and my daughter is 6 years old and by the way she acts with what kinda clothes she will and want wear and her attitude with some people i think that she is gonna b high maintenance even my friends tell me that but i think that me her dad and her grand parents made her that way but i will also say that i think its kind of a good thing that way she will never settle for second best

A girl is high maintainance when she relies on someone else besides herself for her happiness. This is usually caused by insecurity, discontentment, and emotional immaturity (and guys can do this too in their own way, we are no better). So because she lacks happiness on her own, she is always looking for someone or something else to constantly fill that void, and keep filling it. She becomes shallow, materialistic, and self-centered.
We are all responsible for our own happiness. No person on this earth can maintain our happiness for us. (Though, I know that Christ has certainly helped me to have happiness in my life, regardless of how much or little I have.)

If you have to call her ten times a day and stay on the phone a lot. If she is constantly challenging you to see if you love her. If she expects or hints for expensive dates and gifts. If she wants to be with you everywhere you go. If she is jealous and argumentative---and so much more.

always wanting to do things that cost money
calling all the time, wanting to talk constantly
always asking if you love them
being jealous and wanting to know if you like some other chick
wanting you to change who you are/how your dress etc.
