I think its normal for some people not to really enjoy silence, but a downright fear is probably not that normal. If it starts interfering with your life/activities, it might be time to talk to someone about it, such as your doctor.

Although I've never heard of it... I'm sure it's normal.

Maybe it's more of a dis-like of silence rather than a fear? Or it's because you associate silence with something being wrong.

I have a fear of zombie invasions (God's honest truth)
I seriously look around and think "If a zombie outbreak were to happen RIGHT NOW, what would I do?"

Most people are uncomfortable with absolute silence, but when it becomes a phobia (which really means irrational fear) then it's not normal and you need to find a way to deal with it.

i absolutely hate when it's silent. I cant do work in a silent classroom and i have to have the radio on when i drive. Sometimes it drives me so crazy when its quiet that in order to make niose i start talking to myself. People think I'm weird because of it.
