It's soda-pop.
All alone, soda is a contraction for sodium. And soda water is never called pop.
However, many dads are called pop, but they're certainly not called soda.

Actually its *Soda pop
But parts of the country have shortened it to either pop, soda, soft drink, or drink.
In Michigan we call it pop.
