a friend of mine put one in on me a back in the mid 90's

well that is an interresting story. apperantly an obituary generates a death notice..drivers liscense social security card..etc were revoked..talk about a pain in the a** try convincing the guys at the SS office that you are not dead. they ask for proof that you are not dead

big pain in the a** that is probally most papers only accept them from funeral homes and morgues.

No but I have disappeared before at 3am to never return. I could never figure out why the cops never found me.

I did and they never expected me back at work, kept sending me checks and the insurance it's a sweet ride, just gotta stay low and get plastic surgery

LAW ENFORCEMENT DOESN'T USE THE OBITUARIES AS A TOOL. THEY ARE THERE FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY . OFTEN TIMES PEOPLE DONT LIST THEIR FULL OR LEGAL NAMES.

Around here... the only persons who can submit names are funeral directors and coroners. (to stop idots from placing bogus notices, I suppose)
