I'd love to here the philosophical points of the many religions out there. I'd love to hear arguments why one is better than the other...

But no "Because my God says he's the only God" That won't work. They all say that!

I want core beliefs of each and try and convince me with that...

thanks

Okay, this is gonna be a long answer. So stay with me.
First of all, you need to examine the worldviews of the various religions and philosophies.
A world-view can be summed up by answering four questions:
1. Where did we come from?
2. What is our purpose (or what is the meaning of life)?
3. What has gone wrong with the world?
4. Can we make the earth a better place? If so, How?

Once you have answered those four questions, you need to look for a religion that agrees with you on that. Here are the two main worldviews that are in conflict today:
Naturalism (includes atheism, secularism, existentialism, etc.):
1. We came from a chance bonding of amino acids in the primordial soup, maybe induced by UV rays or a lightning strike.
2. Life has no purpose or meaning; it's just there. You need to make your own meaning.
3. Religion (especially christianity), Industrialism, and Capitalism.
4. The world can be made better by a casting aside of all the old rubbish about a the existence of transcendent beings. Once free of these restricting ideas, we will be able to focus on protecting and preserving our environment and on the progress toward understanding the mysteries of the universe around us.
Christianity:
1. God created us.
2. Our purpose is to love and serve the lord.
3. The fall (sin).
4. With the help of God, we can make this world a better place. Though the earth will not be perfect until after the final judgement day, it is our duty to do all we can to bring God's light and love into this world.

The best way to judge the value, or worth, of a worldview is to look at it and reality: does it conflict with reality?

I'm a christian, so you know my answer; you should join Christianity. It offers the most realistic view. More and more naturalists are beginning to realize that life could not have come about by chance. And if it did, they still can't tell you what it is. For a more thorough examitation, you should read "How Now Shall We Live?" by Charles W. Colson, Nancy Pearcey, and Harold Fickett. I was falling away from my religion when I read this book, and it really saved me from losing my faith.

No religion is better than any other. The best religion is the one that works for each individual person. Most reilgions worship some sort of higher power, weather it be God, multiple gods and goddess, the earth, space aliens, or George Bush. Each religion is just a different way to express your faith to the higher power.

I am Wiccan, and belive in a goddess and a god, natrual energies, and sprits. Everythings works together to form a balance. I am also a big fan of tolerance and respect.
An' it harm none, do what ye will.

pick up the bible and read it. then if nothing else pick something else up and read it. i think you will find that the bible vcan make itse;f pretty clear but consult a pastor if you do not understand something and be careful not to interpret a verse the wrong way. christianity is the oldest religion and has huge amounts of history to back it's existence. God is creator of man and everything else. nothing was before Him. He made a sacrifice for us all even though we as humans do not deserve it in the least. He showed mercy and love whe He died on the cross and ultimate power when He rose from the grave defeated death. sorry i hope this is an okay sort of answer. this is a choice you choose and should never be forced on you. and when you judge christianity please do not be harsh on the many faults. we are just human too and that's why we have God to help us back up when we fail and mess up. we are not better or perfect in this world and we would be so wrong if we honestly believed we were better than the the world. we are not better, just different. hope this helps a little.

You should pick what religion is best for you, and only after reading that religion's scriptures and attending a few of their services.

I find most religions very fascinating and think your search will be an interesting and enjoyable one. I'm a Catholic but I'm not going to talk about why Catholicism is better than other religions, because I don't think it is. I'm Catholic because I think it suits me best and I like a lot of the beliefs.

These are what I see as the core beliefs of Christianity. There are disagreements among Christians about some beliefs but I think these are the one's at the root of our beliefs.

* It's a religion that welcomes everyone, regardless of race, gender, or previous life style
* A forgiving God, a God of second chances
* A loving God
* A God who treats everyone his children, not his subservients
* A God who has promised to take care of your basic needs
* A God who is just
* A God who would be willing to die for you, who has died for us in the past
* A God who is powerful, but yet came to earth to know what it was like to be human: to share our joys, our sufferings, our temptations, our life
* Living a life based on the example of God as a human, Jesus
* Living a life based on humility and simplicity
* Caring about the world and the needs of other people as God does

Christianity is the only religion that honestly classifies humanity for what it is; evil. Most religions and even eastern philosophy teach that humanity is basically good and with help can be near god-quality in morality and justice.

All other religions rely heavily upon good works to earn your salvation. Christianity is unique in that salvation is not earned but granted by the grace of God. In that way, that takes away all humanities bragging rights to righteousness.

Christianity is the only religion that also recognizes Jesus as the Son of God. If you do the honest research you'll find the Judaism and Islam have no true basis for denying the deity of Christ in light of the testimony given about Jesus which was done at no personal gain from the apostles.

Some people in the past have given Jesus a bad name but he indeed has a great name and is ready to save you and make you a part of his Kingdom. We all have very little time!

Well, if you want to choose the best, make your decision from a position of strength. Do some research on the different religions. Don't forget the New-Age and Spiritualist Churches, they are much more open and flexible than the "my god is the only god" attitude that concerns you.
The funny thing is, at their fundamental levels, they're all the same. Formalised Religion has (unfortunately) forgotten its roots and fundamentals. Peace. Love. And Tolerance.
Happy Hunting.

Okay, I'll play...

Christianity, when followed correctly, is Salvation in it's simplest form. There are Ten Simple rules that can be simplified even farther. Here's the Simple-Simple version.

Love God above all else.
Try real hard to get along with the people around you.
Don't take anything that isn't rightfully yours.
Don't' have sex with anyone you're not married too
And most important, accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and that his death meant your salvation.

That's it. That's Christianity in a nut shell. Oh, and if you mess, didn't mean to, and want to make amends..Just honestly ask for forgiveness and try real hard not to do it again. God's fairly understanding about such things. Best wishes,

Dont bother with religion. In them all, they teach that God is in all things living(even Mystrianity). Just believe that there is a higher power and you are a part of it. Otherwise you'll be a sheep headed to the ignorant slaughterhouse like the majority of the world. Islam and Mystrianity both started off as killers forcing their beliefs on those who knew nothing of their doctrine. Why follow something that forces you into submission? We are all part of the Oneness. F religion.

Great question only problem is I cant answer it because they are all c r a p. At one time a few years ago I would have tried to tell you that Satanism was a good choice but I now know that at its core it is more of the same herd mentality. The satanic bible is nothing but plagirism of a book called "Might is Right"(an excellant book by the way). Seek your own path, become a strong person who can stand alone. That is the best advice I can give

True Christianity is the true religion. If not for any other reason, the teachings of Jesus were to love others more than yourself. All other Christian principles center around this cardinal ideal. If a person claims to be a Christian but teaches or acts in a way that is contrary to the law of love, then he/she is not a true Christian. Philosophical ideas aside, if you find one religious organization that teaches directly from the bible and acts in harmony with that no matter where they are in the world, that organization will fit the Bible's description of true religion (as opposed to false religion). "That they have love amongst themselves". Obviously that would rule out any religious organization that would encourage it's members to go to war or support a war where they would be in the position to kill a fellow human being, and particularly of the same faith.
Look for the religion that not only teaches love, but acts in harmony with it, and you will find the true religion. As the Christ put it, that no good vine can produce rotten fruitage, nor can any rotten vine produce good fruitage.
