I know this is kinda a silly question but I received a leter in the mail about a week an a half ago that my name had been randomly selected from Ohio's registered voters and that I had to appear for Jury Duty. So I went on the day I was assigned but ended having to leave early and go out of town due to a family emergency and was not able to complete the whole process. And, I know jury duty is serious and is mandatory so I wasn't really sure of what they could do to me for not completing it. Can Somebody who knows about the Court System please help me out, I dont want to get into trouble!!! Thankyou

If you gave notice that you were not able to finish your assignment you should have no problem. If you just didn't show up a bench warrant could be placed on you.

You should contact the Clerk of the Court immediately and explain the situation. If you haven't already, you could be held in Contempt of court with a possible fine and/or Jail time. Better get right on this one. Any paper work you have to prove why you had to leave, you should have ready to prove your case. The last thing that you want to have happen, is for the court to issue a Bench Warrant for your arrest.

Wow, is this a clerical blend-up, or the top of the iceberg on voter fraud? i do not study about Massachusetts, yet right here in difficulty-free words registered voters are called for jury duty, no longer human beings named on a census. ask your self who the cat has been voting for?

Depends on the judge. Arrest and jail. I have to go Monday because I forgot until now it's too late to escape.

The judge can find you in contempt and have you arrested. You would then be brought in front of the judge and asked for your excuse. The judge can then fine or incarcerate you.

Call the court back and find out what it is that they want you to do, then take it from there. Just ask.

All the posters above me are correct. Good luck.

Also any documentation of why you had to leave so suddenly may be helpful.

You could have avoided it all together if you had told them a head of time that you could not be there and gave them a reasonable excuse.

Like I broke a nail....Just kidding
