Your best bet is to reject "spirituality" and other forms of supernaturalism in their entirety.

And it's worth noting that the quote you provide is essentially meaningless. It's just a giant metaphor that provides no clear connection to reality (which is what good metaphors do; they connect to something else).

Accepting Jesus as Lord is a HUGE step towards salvation. Bear in a mind a person can be spiritual and still not get saved.

I think any person first has to accept reality before achieving enlightenment and reach spirituality.
