Why do you think so many women are willing to put up with soooo much cra* from men?

low self esteem -- some women feel like they are not "really" a woman unless they have a man in their life, therefore they will put up with a low-life ****** just so they can say they have a man, rather than dump him and be alone. It's a stupid attitude, and I feel very sorry for such women.

I think its all about low self esteem, insecurity, coming from the old school....thinking life is not complete unless you have a man. To this I say, better to be alone and happy then have a man and be miserable. Maybe they were raised in a family where they seen their mother taking abuse mentally or physical and think that's the way its suppose to be...well, that's not the way its suppose to be so stand up and be counted. This of course can work both ways, I've also seen men be treated like crap also. It is not except able regardless of sex. Everyone deserves to be treated with love and respect. Do not settle for anything less. I do believe no one wants to be married to a doormat and lose respect for someone that tolerates it.

Geez, I don't know; I'm still trying to figure out why I put up with all of the B.S. from my lover, yes, I have one of those. I guess because I am so much in love with him that I just can't get over him at all. Believe me, I have tried. Right now he's out of town and it's been like that for the last 2 months; he's only called me like 10 times and he's always promising that he will come on the weekend and that he will look for me - well, he does comes on the weekend, but I don't get to see his sweet smiley face! I get upset and hurt, but then when he does call and I hear his cool voice; I lose my anger. I could go on and on but it would take a long time, so all I have to say is that I am a stupid broad who takes all the crap from someone who probably doesn't deserve my heartache. The reason why I have to wait for him to call is because he is married and I don't have his cell phone (he has mine), and I have to just sit and hope that he will be able to get away from home and come looking for me.

Well, there is some major complexity to this answer. In places in America where people consider themselves fundamentalists, it is inevitable the men will lead. And that fosters and maintains a philosophy that considers woman to be properly subordinate to men.
In fact, you do not have to look hard to see male dominated section of our cultures. Look at Catholic Priests. Only men can be Priests, so woman are second class by law.
Religions like Mormonism, Seventh day Adventists, and Jewish Religion has special places for men as leaders and so on.
In government, their has not been a female President, Vice Presidents, Speaker of the House and so on.
Generally speaking, woman have come a long way since WWII in terms of liberation, but they also have a long way to go.
Abortion is also a woman's issue, but men still dominate it.
Woman just have to stand up and fight for their rights. I seems to me that men have done a pretty rotten job of leading and it is just time for woman to take control of the reins.
However, Abuse has reared it's ugly head lately. But that is not going to change in a world where kids are killing there family members and other school mates.
Woman have to fight to and win their freedom and respect.
It can't be done one at a time.
It has to be a group effort!

In the united states, there's just alot more women then men.
51% of the U.S. is women and only 49% is men. So that means, if everyone got married today there would still be at least 500,000 women without a man. Everyone wants a man. Besides, there are alot more gay men then women. It is very competitive out there for women. The men can just treat them like crap because they know that there are more girls to pick from no matter what.

many women are stuck with that word LOVE and don't really know what it mean.
a very low self esteem does not help it none plus they feel that they cant do better b/c they have no education, they have children with the man and no other guy is gonna want them, or he's a good provider (even in the bed).

yeah sounds like all the wrong reasons huh. eventually they will get tired and leave.

believe me i know. i dealt with verbal, physical and mental abuse for 5 years plus we have a child 2gether. he kept puttin it in my head no man would want me b/c of my son and i believed it so i stayed until i said i can do this on my own and by the grace of God i been on my own with my child for 2 years. i got a H.S diploma and an Associates Degree in Paralegal.

Because many of our mothers have taught us by example to be that way. When a woman has children, she can be put into a position where she is forced to stay in a bad situation if she is to adequately provide for her children. As the children, we don't see that side of things, we just see a mother who puts up with a lot of crap from a man. We grow up and think that is how it is done, that's what women are supposed to do.

It is lessening with each generation, I think, as we as a group grow and mature.

Because women are born and raised to live their lives according to comparative shopping. "Compared to the cra* from other men I hear my koffee klatch whining about, I guess my guy isn't as bad as I though," they say.

Guys intentionally give their wives and significant others grief bevcause we are caged and trapped in the modern comforts but find it vapid, phony, meaningless and demeaning to live this way. So we bang the bars on the cage and the significant other gets upset and wonders why we are giving them cra*.

Well put by PanfullyAverage. The same women who put up with the crap are usually the ones who ask for it by making themselves available to those guys. "Hey, if I get a boob job and act really slutty, then maybe that cool guy (who wouldn't date me in a million years because I have a A-cup) would find me attractive and I could then get that cool guy!" Some chicks need a checkup from the neckup!!!

Not seeing positive relationships between men and women in their own lives as they grow up has a lot to do with it.
