FYI not pregnant or nursing myself, just something that came up in conversation and I thought it would be an interesting question.

THC is excreted through breast milk, meaning that your baby will be exposed to the same amount of THC that you have in your blood stream. In essence you will be getting your baby high...not a good idea!

It's called child abuse.

There are some “recreational drugs” that should not be used at all, or used only in moderation while you are nursing. These include alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, marijuana, cocaine, heroin, hallucinogens, and amphetamines. With cocaine, heroin, PCP (angel dust), and LSD, the data is clear: they should never, EVER be used by nursing mothers, even in small doses. They can and do cause serious medical problems in you and your baby. If you must abuse these drugs, don’t nurse your baby – and get some help.

Some studies have found that babies born to mothers who used marijuana during pregnancy were smaller than those born to mothers who did not use the drug. In general, smaller babies are more likely to develop health problems.

A nursing mother who uses marijuana passes some of the THC to the baby in her breast milk. Research indicates that the use of marijuana by a mother during the first month of breast-feeding can impair the infant's motor development (control of muscle movement).

Many have answered the medical part of the question. Morally, you need to get some help for even considering it. You are sick! STOP SMOKING WEED while you are nursing. It's time to grow up!

Its very unhealthy, anything you put into your body while breast feeding goes right into the babies body as well, and some babies born to mothers who smoke pot do show some health complications.

i woukd say like most drugs, it will stay in your system and be excreated in your breastmilk. I have heard that like with drinking if you just pump the next m and get rid of it it's outta your system and you can contibue feeding again. I would ask your dr or anonoumsly call a pharmasist just to be safe, lthough i see nothing wrong with adults smoking pot, i would be real afraid of the baby being harmed by it. good luck

Your baby will get all those chemicals that you put into your body into theirs.... and they are a lot smaller... so its even more damaging... if you absolutely have to smoke pot, please formula feed the baby (or does formula cost to much and it would take away from your pot money?)

Stop!!! I couldn't even take most of the over the counter medicines for a cold since all would enter the milk. What are you thinking? Don't breastfeed if you can't stop smoking.

smoking pot crosses over into your milk so if you want your baby drinking breast milk laced with pot your best bet is to stop smoking it all together.
