Sorry there.. ireland too! Actually, generally speaking, Europe. I know that every place has it's problems but I love tradition, and it's hard to find that here. I hope it's in the places I look (UK and Europe). Thanks for the support too .

And by "awesome" I mean how it causes wonder. I wonder about your everyday life verses mine, I wonder your morals and beliefs. 'Awesome' as in awe

I dont find England or the English in the least 'awsome'
And cant understand why any other country would, unless they really think England is the only part of the UK?
Read up on a bit of English history before you settle here it could open your eyes!
I suppose its fair to say that the majority of UK people know as little about USA as you seem to know about Britian, so by all means come over to England they could do with an injection of any other fresh nationality , maybe breed some of the cra* out of them!! It is happening but very slowly!

There are about half a million Americans living in London and probably many more scattered around the UK. If you move to UK you'll quickly find yourself made welcome. Is there a culture shock. Probably, but since I am not an American it would be hard to explain, mainly because I am not sure what Americans do back home - go to the movies, watch baseball etc. If you're serious about living in UK try to find out as much about us as you can on the Internet. London can be a lonely place - although the people are generally friendly they tend on the whole to be reserved and not forward which is the case with most Americans. We tend to bury our heads in our newspapers rather than speak openly to strangers while travelling on the bus or tube.

I was born and live here. But its pretty boring. Ive travelled the US and they seem to have everything we have but just bigger and better. Yea we have the tradition but thats boring to me now. And with how things are now in england theres a lot of things in our history that we are being asked to not mention. The place is going downhill. Im sure people visiting from america want to see churches and christmas trees, red phone boxes and cockney cab drivers. What their will probably find i think will suprise them. English tradition is disapearing fast, i wont say why but everyone here knows exactly what i mean

Be prepared for some very strong opinions especially with regard to America's involvement in the Middle East but other than that you should be OK. We do tend to keep ourselves to ourselves and you'll probably find you need to initiate a conversation in order to get past a regular 'hello' but once you do you'll find most people are friendly enough.
One thing we're not good at is asking names and it's quite common for people to chat regularly without ever exchanging names - it's just a British thing.
Good luck and enjoy your stay!

Well yeah, the UK is alright, but you may be surprised how are some areas in england dirty and messy. It aint like those nice and clean streets in the USA.
Well there is a lot of immigrants, but as far as I know they usually come from Poland and Lithuania.

Well I for one welcome the contribution anyone could make to this society and America has been a good friend to this country and despite the wars our politicians have got us into Americans have always stood up and been counted. I am completely against war but if I was in any kind of conflict I would be happy to know Americans were fighting along side

I agree with you. I'm American but lived in London for a year. The first two weeks I hated it. Once I made a few friends, got used to the weather, that was it for me. I didn't want to come back here. There are problems there too, but I really liked the people, the history, McVities Hobnobs....and there are no Walmarts! (maybe there are now) I still have dreams that I'm there.....

Honestly, I've done some research about immigrants. Whether you like it or not, they or most Britishs didn't like immigrants especially if you're Muslim. In this case, one of your exquisite quality is that you're an American and most European countries do welcome Americans. If you're not Muslim, Asian or Arabian, that's fine. Actually UK itself consists a lot of immigrants since the Industrial Revolution when the King/Queen invited labours from abroad especially skilled labours. As you may see nowadays, some of the main community there are Pakistani, Arab, Yemen, Turkish and nevertheless the war hostages such Bosniak, Chechen & Kosovo. There are also significant numbers for Africans such as Somali.
