I would say definitely yes, it is bad to use "slow cooker" plastic bags. I've recently been informed that it's also bad to freeze foods in plastic. Hard to believe, but maybe this is why cancer is so prevalent. We use plastics for alot of things.

The toxins that are released into food when plastic is heated is still not an exact science. But evidence seems to suggest that there are serious problems. Sperm counts in the industrialized world are down, way down from our grandparents time and plastics might be one of the reasons.
A major concern is that women absorb these things and later on pass them on to their male offspring while still in the womb. The number of boys with genital abnormalities possibly as a result is growing. There are many examples of this in the natural world and it's only a matter of time before so many people have been affected that it will be impossible to ignore.
Another nail in the coffin?

The negligible amount of toxins you get from that is NOT enough to harm you, when kept to a reasonable level. If you arent making every meal in a plastic bag in the microwave, you are just fine. You breathe in more toxins walking around in most cities for 10 minutes than you will get in a year from microwaved plastic.

My mom tells me about harmful toxins from heating food in foam. Personally, I would involve glass or paper with food just to be safe.
