ok...so whats up with there being likea million guy bands and no girl bands?

do guys generally have more motivation than girls? because theres just not a lot of it out there.

so WHAT THE CRAP? i'm a girl and i play guitar but i feel like a minority.

its not a big deal on whether its a girl or guy out there.
i think its making some progress ie evanescence, flyleaf, etc but it still has a lot way to go.

so not trying to be a ***** or anything but i just want to know why theres so many guys being successful and girls are kind of a minority.

I FEEL YOU!! There are thousands of excellent female singers rock, blues, jazz, country r&b, whatever and even a few really good instrumentalists i myself know a couple of good saxophonists & a fabulous pianist & guitarist but when it comes to looking for their role models out in the big world & there's nobody.

In my opinion, female voices don't mesh as well with hard rock as male voices. Females definitely dominate other parts of the music industry. There are also a lot of female musicians that are in hard rock bands that don't sing. For example, Coal Chamber has a female guitarist...or bassist...I'm not sure which. Or the Smashing Pumpkins. Or White Zombie/Rob Zombie. Or Kittie. It's a pretty long list...

It's not about sex appeal, women have way more sex appeal than men.

Bands don't really make up what's "in the market" right now. Solo artists do. Danity Kane is kind of like a band but more like a group and there are the Black Eyed Peas (you know they wouldn't be anywhere without Fergie).

sorry to break it to you, but its because of two reasons:
1. Guys usually have better voices, and their music tends to be more upbeat.
2. ok, who's more likely to put up a poster of a band on their wall and have the bands name written in hearts all over their noteboooks? guys or girls? obviously girls, so thats why guy-bands are usually more popular.
anyway, hope you have good luck, remember, every now and then there's a really awesome girl musician!!

Whoa Sister...chill!!! I love girls that play and sing their music......Lush is a great band...The Donnas... etc....I play guitar too, none of my daughters wanted to play but one of my daughter's friends Vicki did and we just started playing stuff she wrote and I wrote and she just joined the Ruptured Cockamamies (my band) and I am in the opinion that the ladies can rock just as good as men!! Just keep playing and do your thing...sod the guys...just find your style...it helps to be a bit obnoxious and stand out from the rest!!

Guys are more exhibitionistic, they like noise and attention, they are more attuned with the defiance of rock and roll.

So there are more of them in the garage practicing and more of them on stage.

I don't know, but I strongly suspect, that girls who have musical talent shy away from performing more than guys because there are so many WHINY, off-key mousey singers like Jewel and Janis Ian who embarass them about their own gifts for music.

Rock and metal aren't well suited for women as most women can't sing properly for that genre. Women do, however, dominate other genres, like pop.
Besides, what does it matter? Good music is good music, whether the musicians have t!ts or not.

yeah there are a lot bands that are dudes but hardly any girls. and usually the girl bands end up sucking!!!
