I picked up my 6 week old siant bernard this mornign after i got out of work. She was gaven to a friend of mine when she was a little over 4 weeks old. Maggy is her name. Maggy has been eating puppy food since 4 weeks. and like i said she is 6 weeks old now. My friend gave her to me. So i am not dumb and i would have not of took her if she was sick. When i first seen her She was perfect jumping and playing, We got her in to the car, and since the car ride she has been kinda "dopey". Im not shure if it is bringing her in to a warm house from being outside all the time or what. But she has done nothing but sleep since i got her. she went potty outside a few times. but then when i was sleeping, i had her on the couch wiht me. I woke up to her gagging; she has been throwing up clear thick liquid after she drinks water. and a few mins ago she started throwing up clear mustard colored liquid. She has Diareah, Please some one help me. I dont have money right now, 4 a vet.

It is not that i dont want to take her to a vet or that im poor. I get paid every two weeks, and didnt even know i was getting a dog. The vets around here are expensive and the animal hospital closes at 8pm. Everything is closed. I am not a horrible person that would not get a animal to a vet when they are sick. I just dont understand how she was fine earlier and now shes nothing. I am not shure if she had shots. My friend said she thinks previous owner before her said that al she needs now is wormed. But maggie only gets sick after she drinks water, She tries to drink the whole big huge dang bowl. I am gonna go to the store and buy a couple of things and cross my fingers and hope they work. My friend also mentioned something about since she is a sint she is going to start produceing thicker saliva, cuz they drool.I am new to the breed.

It sounds most like worms.. the stress of the trip caused her system to produce excess stomach acids, which aroused the worms, and is making her sick..Nearly ALL puppies are born with worms, that they get from their mom...she really needs to be wormed as soon as you can...If you call all of the vets in your area, you can ask them if they are prescribing REVOLUTION and if they are, are they giving the first dose free..(the vets are encouraged to give the first treatment free) So, if they are, it won't cost you anything to get rid of her worms...It will also keep her parasite free for at least a month..Ya can't beat that deal!

She's most likely stressed from the move. Animals become very attatched to their enviornment and a move can throw them out of whack. This is the second time she's been moved from the mother so I'm sure that's very stressful. Keep an eye on the stool for blood and/or worms. Give her a lot of TLC and show her that you're her new loving owner and make her feel as comfortable as possible. Give her a day to adjust to her new surroundings and if she's still sick see a vet. Meanwhile you can call a vet and ask how a dog reacts to moving to a new owner's home so you know what to expect and can compare.

The mustard colored liquid is stomach bile. If she has diarrhea and vomiting and is not vaccinated - it could be parvo- it is very likely this time of year. if it keeps getting worse you will have to go to the vet. some home remedies - like pepto bismol or immodium - may help- there are many sites to tell you how much to give per body weight - you can also try feeding plain white rice - this has helped my dog many times (she has a very sensitive stomach - had parvo when i adopted her) so i have always had to make special arrangements for her meals and find what works and what seems to make her sick. worms will cause diarrhea and vomiting but don't give a dewormer until you get the vomiting stabilized a little - it will only make your pup feel worse- hope this helps

At 2 weeks old she should still have been drinking her mother's milk and she's too young to be left outside where she can get into danger.

She must be taken to a vet immediatly. She could have an obstruction in her digestive tract from eating something inedible, she could have gotten into something poisonous, or she could have contracted a virus from being outside without first being vaccinated.

Obstructions are fatal unless emergency surgery is performed but the vet will be able to tell if she has one or not.

First of all 6 weeks old is too early to be away from the mother she offers the puppies natural immunity from diseases until they are about 6 weeks old. I'm sure this was beyond your control. I'm scared your puppy may have parvo if she does she will dehydrate and die a painful death. Alot of vets will work out a payment plan with you but you need to have this puppy checked out immediatly. With larger breed dogs they can usually beat parvo with intensive vet treatment. I sincerely hope that your puppy will be okay.

Four weeks old, is entirely too young to be a way from his mother, you need to get this puppy to a vet, you will need to figure out a way, many places will allow you to make a payment arrangements, the puppy is still to young to be away from his mother as they should be eight week. The puppy could be suffering from malnutrition dehydration and numerous medical problems, such as anemia, or even parvo.

You can research what I have said on the site below, but what you need is to get to a vet now.

The throwing up could be allgeries you know like sinus drainage & all that can make them gag sometimes. if she has'nt been wormed that could be a part of it also,if you have'nt wormed her yet that can make them be sick & lay around a lot, but they eat a lot uselly & are pot belled because of the worms, all puppies need to be wormed at around 4 to 6 weeks & then again in about another 2 weeks later. Good luck

When they throw up yellow liquid, it is bile and usually means an empty stomach. Feed the dog. If you do not have money for vet bills, you should not have taken the dog. She will need shots, worming, heartworm preventative, etc. they cost a lot of money.

This is really hard if you don't take Maggy to the vet. The best thing i have to say is just to keep her in the bathroom. If you really want her to stop you sould see a vet. I don't think you can do much about it! May the best come to you.

From what you are describing this sounds like Parvo or Distemper, I would take her to the emergency hospital tonight. Both are very fatal. They will want to know if she has received any puppy shots and if the mother was vaccinated before giving birth. If not, they have no immunity and this makes them very susceptible to Parvo and/Distemper.

I'm sorry your baby is sick, I wish you much luck.
