First, you ALWAYS have to be honest with your doctor. ALWAYS. You need to tell your doc about your pot smoking.
Second, I doubt that a couple of bouts with muchies and giggles are the reason you're on this drug. I'm betting that there were more symptoms. No matter how old you are, it is important that you understand why you're taking the drugs, and that you don't believe that it is a penalty for smoking pot. Make SURE you spend a long time talking to your doctor about why you're on this drug, and the chances that you could try to "go solo" to see how it goes. Obviously, if you don't exhibit the symptoms that raised concerns then they'd be happy to let you go off the meds.

Well now, that's just about the lamest reason I ever heard someone use while trying to come up with reasons for not taking their meds. I hope that gets through your mania stage and gets you to think a bit. Bipolar has nothing in common with the effects of pot, or any other commonly available drug. Crank and LSD can mimic psychosis if you're under the influence at your Dr.'s office, but I don't know of any licensed Dr. that wouldn't look for signs that you were self medicating. This includes dialation of the pupils of your eyes.
Come back down a bit. Bipolar is a terrible disease, don't let it win this round. You sound as if you've been missing doses, or your current meds are beginning to fail. Yes, the mania can make you feel like Superman. (Drugs? I don't need no stinkin drugs!!!) But remember how things were when the mania leaves. Get help & get leveled off, don't let this disease beat you.

I doubt your doctor will take you off of your meds because you smoked pot but tell him if he doesnt know that you did.how long it will take well thats up to your doctor. Some people are on depakote or something eles for bipolar for life.Smoking pot does not have the same effects as a bipolar so whatever you did be sure and tell your doctor. I found this site and you read up on it okay ?? Good luck to you..

A lot of people smoke (including me) weed at least once every while. And only a minority of them are under some medication because of that situation. So, I your doctor put you on medication because you smoked weed, say, 10 times in your whole life, then I'd suggest you to get a 2nd opinion, from a more professional physician.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say yr not on that med because of the smokn you did. A side effect from that will not be bipolar tendicies. Espically if your on it for a yr plus, smoking 3 times prob would not have caused it,it's probably genetics.

you're doctor is on crack. no one ever gets meds for smoking pot a couple of times. don't buy into that crap. if you don't like the meds then go to another doctor who isn't a crackhead and get a second opinion.
pot isn't like heoin, there's no meds for "quitting pot." they don't give you pills to help with withdrawls because there are none. well, sometimes you get a little irritable and moody, but no physical effects.
you're doctor is lame.
