my best friend is a guy.... and i like him a lot... we are so close and i tell him more things than i tell anyone... but now i think i am starting to like him as more than a friend and everytime i see him in the hallways at school he gives me a hug. The hugs used to be pretty quick because he had to get to class but lately, he gives me a really long close hug... and stays with me to talk for a while. Everytime we are together he puts his arm around me and holds me close when we talk.... but i dont know how he feels and i dont want to ask him out and be shut down because he doesnt feel the same way and then never have our friendship be the same again. so now i am sooo confused... help?!

Just ask him how he feels. It seems as though he's growing quite fond of u though because u stressed that his hugs are longer and more frequent. Would you happen to know if he's dating/ interested in anyone else because it's important u know that as well. I think that you 2 should hit it off quite nicely because u r both good friends so therefore you 2 have an advantage because ur already familiar with each others personality and you spend alot of time together which can only serve to strenghen the relationship. So just be honest with him about your feelings and inquire about his. If it so happens that he doesn't share your feelings (which I doubt very much) then just brush it off and remain friends even if it may seem a little strange because at the end of the day, your friendship is what counts most so you should always try to preserve it even if he does share your feelings.

You should pay more attention to his behaviour...When people likes each other...they usually send signals.....Look at those signals....Best way to be sure is at the movies.....Is he holding hands with you? does he still kiss you? If you can't ask him directly...pretend that you are drunk and kiss him.....At least, if he doesn't feel the same way, you will blame it on the alcohol and your pride won't be hurt.

I think that you should just leave it as friends. Once you cross the line, you can never go back. Why risk a great friendship?

sometimes relationships can happen even if noone confesses love to the other...it just happens naturally, but if u are really so desperate to know, then ask him how he feels about u
