Good Morning America had the author of the potty party book on their show and you can probably find that book at Barnes and Nobles etc.
You can save the book for your child for their baby book and as something they can use when their child needs a potty party.
My kids are now 33,30 and 28. . .wish I had had something like this to help though I can't really complain as all my children took to potty training quite quickly and I had a very helpful babysitter.

I have never heard of it but I see how it could work, you gotta make a big deal right?(lots of praise call friends and family to tell them the news)Well I would just invite family clostst to him/her.I would have simple finger foods, mabee even tootsie rolls as a treat/they look like poo.Have the new potty as the present and if you want have the guest bring treats to give as rewards during the progress.

We tried the potty chair, but the kids (both girls) didn't like it. They preferred a small seat that sat inside the regular toilet so their bums didn't fall into the toilet. The potty chair concept is okay, but the kids get used to using it and then get confused when you wan them to move to the big toilet.
