Why can't guys just be direct and say they aren't interested in a girl?
I mean some guys come off as complete jerks; that's not the way to turn down a girl.
I just wanna know why many of you guys do this?

probably because they are wondering if they are vague if they might get laid out of the deal.

I'm a guy but I find this kind of thing grossly invasive and disrespectful. I'm not just saying that to win points, I really do hate that kind of behaviour. It's sexual assault, no two ways about it. People who think that it's okay to just lay hands on people in such ways display a total disregard for privacy and choice. They feel that they can just do what they want regardless of how much a girl might protest. That's the mentality of a rapist if you ask me. I'm not saying that all drunken and obnoxious guys who grope girls would rape a girl, but it really does demonstrate a mentality that lies on the same path. Your best approach to this would be to be firm, confident and LOUD. Make sure he understand that you are sure of yourself and that there is no ambiguity in what you are saying. To be honest he shouldn't need TELLING in the first place. Don't hesitate in screaming if you need to, or shouting for help, or raising the alarm in other ways. If you can get away from him then do so as quickly as possible, and find either doormen (bouncers), the management of the establishment and/or or police and report what has happened.

I think they can't be direct because if they were girls would come out swinging. If the guy said "Well I'm just not attracted to you. You're too heavy." Or "I don't find you particularly pretty" Or "Your laugh is very annoying ..oh and by the way, so is the tone of your voice." The girl would take attitude and bless the guy out calling him a jerk, then point out all the things wrong with him from the zit on his forehead to the crooked tooth he has the the very back of his mouth. I seriously doubt she'd say "Oh well, thanks for being direct about it. I appreciate it very much."
There's no pleasant way to tell anyone.."I don't find you appealing". And there's no nice way to hear it. So people lie or act like jerks. And then maybe the unappealing person will go away. Oh and just because you may be unappealing to HIM does not mean you are unappealing to all of them. To someone you are perfect the way you are.

Because girls aren't direct and can't tell a guy that they're interested in them.
Some girls are completely ambiguous when it comes to letting a guy know their feelings for them - I have no idea why.

Guys and girls both do this. As far as i can see, it's because they don't want to upset you or be mean about it, but what most people don't see is that being nice is being straightforward without being too harsh about it, not beating around the bush.

Basically I like to get to know the girl or guy first then I tell them how I feel directly. I basically tell them "IAfter getting to know you better I have started to develop feelings for you I was wondering if you have hany for me or would allow me to be your boyfriend?" I hate leaving small clues it is get to the point in a nice way or you might lose your chance. But to let a girl down (sry read your question wrong) I usually tell them straight to their faces and seee if we can work around he problem or see if it can not be solved because if i am notinterested beting around the bush is not a good idea leads to false ideas and there are plenty of ways to say sorry I am not interested. like a nice card and flowrers and saying "I am sorry but I do not think it would work out between us I do not think you are the one for me."

Men now days don't have what it takes to speak the truth. If people would just start telling it how it is we would'nt have these problems. Plus it's a way men act like boys!!!!!!!!

A guy's life is hell. We constantly look around and see girls we want to do it with right now, and we can't have it. Then, when we get a chance to deny a girl, it's payback time.
