I'm afraid the answer is that nothing cures bipolar. Untreated, it will get worse over time, so the chances are that you will be on Abilify or some other meds for a long, long time. It's sometimes hard to accept, but that's the way it is.

I'm taking lamotrigine and olanzapine (Lamictal and Zyprexa) and they're working just great for me.

baby, sorry to tell you that there is no cure for bipolar. only beviour modification. you have to go through a lifetime of therapy...bipolar first has to be understood. it is severe swings from one day manic happy to the next manic depressed. the more you understand your illness, the easier it will be for you to predict your onset of anxiety/depression states. my son is bipolar. so i am very familiar with it. i dont know all there is to know and probably never will. he is only 10. so we have a long life of therapy ahead of us. alot of the treatment is in learning how to control your mood swings and of course.......dont stray from your meds and your doctor. and stay with your doctor...alot of bipolar patients become dissastisfied with many different things and their doctor is one of them. consistency is another good attribute. i'm not trying to scare the begeebies out of you......just trying to be insightful. i know where we've been already. try to stay positive no matter which manic mood you wake up to. some days can go like straight gravy. others like an emotional rollercoster. good luck and God bless you, hon! please, do all the research you can so you can help yourself....you know you better than anyone!

As far as I know, you will never be cured from bi-polar. You can only stabalize it.
