You need to have ear mites diagnosed and treated by a veterinarian. There is no home remedy that I am aware of to treat this problem.

Alcohol is too irritating to use to clean ears. Use a product that is made for dog ears. There are a lot of different ones out there that are over the counter and are safe to use for regular cleaning. They break up the wax, and dry the ear. Ear mites are not black. They are white and are extremely difficult to see with the naked eye. Usually you need good magnification or a microscope to detect them. Their poop is black and dry and can fill the ear canal. They are very itchy. But....other types of ear problems, such as yeast infections are also itchy and have a brown or black discharge. Bacterial infections are usually yellow and smell bad, and the ear may be red and swollen. It is not uncommon for us to find ruptured ear drums in dogs with chronic ear infections. If this is the case, pouring alcohol, oils, or peroxide into the ear can cause irreparable damage. If at all possible, please seek veterinary help before medicating.

OK first of all you should go to your vet....(when is the last time you pet has been seen? Over a year then your pet is overdue for vaccines.) and next thing ....would you put alcohol in your own ear? NOt a good idea. DOnt use over the counter meds from walmart .....bad bad bad.....if medicine for yourself was that cheap wouldnt you consider whether it was good for you? Ear meds at the vet is not that expensive and your vet will be able to determine whether or not your dog acctually has mites. Your dog can have an infection. Get a diganoses before you treat the problem. Trust me I am tech!

Do not use alcohol in her ears. If in fact it is ear mite you can use eradamite by fort dodge or any other brand that treats them from your local pet store only use product specific to ear cleaning for dogs. Also just how sure are you that it is mites. mites are actually white you should be able to see them crawling around on a black curstation on the inside of her ears sounds more to me like fleas. Roll her over on her back and rub her behind if its fleas they'll run to the crotch area also look for black specks on her skin its called flea dirt.

After cleaning them out throughly with ear flush try a drop of liquid ivermectrim. It will kill the mites. However, the best course is to take your dog to the vet. Some dogs need to have a complete ear flush done and your vet is the only one to safely do this.
If your really cheap try your local pet store. They may have some ear mite treatment.

alcohol will just iritate it,you need to use mineral oil {found in the pharmcy} that will drown them, it might take a couple of times to get rid of them all. that is the ear mite mite medicine is based with, it will get the cat some relief pretty quick, but if it is a bad infection you might have to take it to the vet.it does'nt take very much about ten drops a dose twice a day for a couple of days and you should be able to tell the difference if not then i would go to the vet with it. I have done this with my dogs before. good luck!

I agree with that one girl. You should call your vet first and ask what you can use as a home remedy for mites in your dog's ear. They can give you advice on the telephone.

Wesson corn oil can be used to cure ear mites. Put it on a cotton ball and rub it in the ear for three days. This will cure the ear mites and it is cheap. Call your vet and ask them. They will tell you it is very safe and easy to do.

Yes, for cleaning purposes, but afterward you will need to put something more soothing in them.
Walmart and most stores that carry pet food will also sell the ear might medication. I think I have heard of some people using a drop of mineral oil, it also drowns the mights. Whatever you use, you will need to do it several days in a row and then repeat all treatment again two weeks later, after the eggs hatch.

pour baby oil into the ear and the mites drown. It works! I don't think I would use rubbing alcohol.
