sometimes........yes. I hate saying that because I don't want to reflect that view towards all churches. But, in truth, sometimes I wonder if a few aren't there out of habit and conditioning. I am also surprised at those who dress as though going to a prom or social evening function. some sunday morning you could charge admission for the fashion show alone.(Hee-he)One church I visited the pastor had on more jewerly than Mr. T. The large cross around his neck made my back hurt just to watch him wear it. (Hee-he)Bottom line is, you'll always find problems when you have groups of people in one building. Our job is to know why we are there and pray about any concerns we have over others..........

churches are a place for christians to congregate and learn God's word, so the socializing should be a normal thing as long as it's with His word. besides, at school, students socialize and yet learn too. we're social beings and i wouldn't just go to church and just leave without talking to the people there.

Yes... there seems to be some sort of self induced pressure to "lure" people in. It's ok as long as you realize that whatever you "lure" them with is what you'll have to stick to. So, it better be the gospel.

my grandmother is a 70 year old conservative republican from south carolina. she went to church for 60 years of her life, but made the decision not to go anymore because of 'gossip'. does that answer your question.
