I save glass jars from jelly, pickles under my sink and pour the fat off into one. When it fills up I put the lid on a put it in the trash. Coffee cans work well too.

Store oil in a coffe can or jar. Look around for anyone wanting oil for biodiesel, if not toss out in the trash. For solid fats, let them cool and congeal back into a solid. Putting the pan or whatever into the freezer makes for a harder solid which can easily be scraped into the trash. The pan ends up easy to clean with very little fat solids to end up clogging pipes.

I keep an empty can (vegetables, or whatever) in my freezer. When I have to drain cooking fat, I put it in there. When the can gets full, I throw the can away in the garbage and put another empty can in the freezer. Keeps it from clogging things up, and is easy to get rid of when it's full.

My township provides a plastic container with heavy duty bags that will hold the hot oil. When full they say put it in your trash.
Don't pore it down the drain as it clogs the sewer system. That's why the township provides the bags for free.

I dont know if this is wrong but Id run the tap water on hot, then id drain my fat in a strainer in the hot sink. id continue to run the hot water so it wont clog my drain. Ive been doing this for years and its never clogged. I guess I should start saving it and throwing it away to be safer, huh?

my parents always poured the hot fat/oil into a little metal container or an empty orange juice carton and put it in the refrigerator to solidify. good luck!

I try not to put grease down the drain, as it's not good for the plumbing. Does your apartment have a grease trap? Yuck. I put it in jars and throw it in the trash.

Throw it in the trash, not down the sink or in the toilet. Putting it in some sort of container first will obviously make things less messy.

My mother collected it to use as cooking oil. I thought that was gross. I just use oliveoil, if I need oil. I just put animal fat down the drain

I dump mine in an empty glass jar. Once it`s full, in the garbage!
