Only if you're Catholic. The priest acts as an intermediary between you and God. But no priest has the power to absolve sin, Catholic or otherwise.

The concept of forgiving sin during confession is a cheap marketing technique devised by the Catholic Church to make you guilty enough to keep on coming back to Church each Sunday so you'll keep on donating your money to them by dropping your spare change in the collection plate.

None at all. The Bible doesn't say we need to confess our sins to a priest. We need to confess our sins to the Lord and ask for forgiveness.

You do not have to confess to a priest...only to Jesus Christ. He is the one who can wash all your sins away!
