Since you've found this dog and want to have it scanned for a microchip, the vet shouldn't charge you anything. They won't charge you for an office visit because you are not there to have to dog looked at for a medical reason. But if they were to charge you, it wont be much. But I don't see why or how they could charge you. I've worked at a vet clinic and when someone brought a dog in to be scanned they didn't charge the lady anything. You shouldn't have a problem.

I don't know what a b terrier is, but re: your scanning of the micro-chip--should be $0 at shelters & most vets.

They will probably charge you an office visit. Call the local shelter and explain the situation and they may be able to scan it for you at no charge and let you put up flyers for the dog. Shelter are not bad places and they would be willing to help you.

Try calling you local animal shelter. Most of them have the chip scanners.

if you found and want to know if its chipped so you can find the owner, i would suggest taking it to the animal shelter, they probably will scan it for free

well i heard that a dog ran from SC and ended up on the LA coast, he was found. don't care how much, find his or her owner!
