No, not really.
I asked the optometrist, and he said that sitting close to the television screen doesn't damage your vision; so I would think that video games wouldn't do anything.
If you do play video games too much, the sounds from the games would sink into your subconscious, your vision will be blurred temporarily, and your hands would cramp up.
That's all nothing major of course.

That depends.

Playing a video game or just plain watching tv causes your eyes to focus on one "focal point", a "focal point" being one spot in a multi-level field of view. A good example would be standing on a small hill with other hills in the distance. The tops of the hills would be different "focal points" in the distance.
Your eye muscles actually get more exercise than your leg muscles. When you're outside doing things, your eyes focus on so many different focal points that they get a good workout. Whereas, computer programmers, CGI designers, any job that utilizes a computer monitor, will cause your eye muscles to be "trained" to one focal point. That's why some people need glasses after working for many years staring at a computer monitor.

As for DarkStar's daughter, my friend's son also had vision problems, too. He had a "wandering" eye. Her son's opthalmologist suggested video games because the games would allow him to concentrate his focal point, thus strengthening his eye muscles.

truthfully, it could influence it. I used to play video games for like 4 hours immediately ( i became a Halo fan :D) and that i mandatory glasses. that's by way of fact, once you're enjoying video games your not consitrated on blinking and all you do is stare on the television. possible play video games yet in basic terms you would be wanting to blink ^_^

The answer is NO! My daughter has vision problems and the eye doctor told her to play video games and computer games because it will force you to work your eye muscles.

No but I can't play video games on huge, wide-screen TV sets because I get motion sickness.
