i have been taking a drug, i stopped for 7mths and prev to that i used for 2 years and have started to use again. the reason i stopped last time was because i had no choice otherwise i know deep down i would have continued to use. i think i suffer from depression, im currently unemployed but i dont have the motivation to start a new job, i wont go on the dole because i will feel embarressed. i get the money for the drugs by borrowing off family saying i will pay them back when i have a job but the only time i want to leave the house is so i can go party. my now ex boyfriend got me heavily onto this and now we have been broken up for just over a year and i still cant stop thinking of him and it helps me to not think about him or how unhappy i am, but after i have used i feel so guilt ridden that i end up usuing again to take the feeling away. i dont know what to do, im so alone, unhappy i feel like i have a hole in my stomach and it wont go away. please any advice greatly needed.

Oh you poor child, what a mess you have fallen into, but it can be fixed.

The first and most important thing is that we know you can stop the drug as you have done so before. This is a great strength you have and you should cling to it and feel very proud.

You know yourself that drugs are not the answer. If they were, you would not be unhappy would you?

Depression

You may well have depression. Visit this site www.depressionet.com.au for information, the site has all the information you need and it is reliable. There is a BB forum and chatrooms, it is all free, do join up, you will be made very welcome and the community is extremely supportive. The membership is from all over the world so there is always someone there if you need to talk. Then go to a doctor and get some help for your depression. If you get fobbed off go to another doctor. Depression is a serious illness and needs to be treated. It does not mean there is something wrong with you nor does it mean you are insane. It is an illness like any other and it can be treated and you can get better. Once you are on the road to recovery there you will feel much more hopeful about your situation.

The Dole.

You should not be embarrassed if you need to apply for unemployment benefit. It is there because everyone pays tax to have it there because a nation that does not look after all its citizens is a disgrace and a crying shame. My husband and I pay a lot of tax and we want everyone to be able to live decently. The dole is your right as a citizen of your country. It is not charity and you must never let anyone make you feel embarrassed or ashamed for getting it. One day you will be on your feet and then you will pay tax so that others may have the same help you need now.

The Boyfriend.

I use the term loosely because he was certainly no friend to you getting you onto a drug. Once you are feeling better you will find it much easier to forget about him as you move into your new life. Trust me I know this is true.

Life Generally

Everything is not as bad as it seems to you right now. Once you get the medical help you need, are off the drugs and have your depression under control and your income situation a bit sorted, you should take some time to think about what you want most in life. Doesn't matter if it is big or small, serious or frivolous. Choose a goal and make a plan and work towards it. You are probably not ready to take this step yet as you are sick with the drugs etc and feeling so down. But you will be better. I remember my doctor once saying that until you get your health right you don't know what your mind is like, because the body's health affects our mind so very much. It is possible that once you get off the drugs your depression will go away by itself, but don't count on this. It may take some time to get your health stabilised but don't give up, never give up. It will be ok.

Try to find something that makes you feel really great about yourself. Try writing, or learning an instrument, or sports, anything that will give you some sense of accomplishment. Then, whenever you feel depressed, do whatever this thing is, do it especially when you least feel like it. This way you will increase your self esteem again which in turn will help you with your depression. I know it sounds stupid but I have been hospitalized for many suicide attempts over the past 6 years and have been completely better the past 3 since I have started in piano again. Also if you make a list of all the people that you would affect in a positive way if you made positive changes and then expand that list to include all the people they would affect more positively because of being more positive themselves and so on you will really start to see the great impact you can have on people if you wanted to. Hang in there !

No. Drugs are not the answer. Your guilt tells you that. Even if you do not feel guilty, you probably know that drugs are not the answer. I don't know what drug you are on, so it depends on how you handle it--there are different ways. The main way is going to a doctor and discussing your options such as rehab--which may help you. My husband used different drugs for 12 years and when we got together, he made a change. He even stopped drinking. It is very hard to do. Rehabs did not help him much. He could not get past the third day, but you may have better luck. You need to do something or it will just get worse and you will end up losing everything, including your family, reputation and maybe your life. Plus you could go to jail if you get caught. Forget this guy. He is of no help to you now nor was he when he was a part of your life. You will never find a guy worth having from partying and doing drugs. Don't even worry about a guy right now. You need to talk to your family about your condition and ask them for help. If they support you financially, then they most likely will care enough about you to help you get your life back. Lean on them and the friends you have who don't party. You need to get help now, as you know this is getting out of hand. Once you do get help, you can get medication for depression and go to counseling regularly. Take it one step at a time. If you need to talk, please email me or IM and I will be glad to help you. I have had many friends troubled with drugs and live with a former addict. So I do know about addiction. It is scary and you are not alone.

No, drugs are never the answer. There's nothing better than having a job and earning your own money to buy some george clothes, makeup, perfurme oh and defiantly shoes! stinky drugs are not worth your life which you are losing out on. Your ex boyfriend was a shite for getting you on what you are doing and he's gone now, I feel you should move on and experiment with the great things life has to offer, you are trapped and living in the past and won't move on but a year has given you time and where has it got you...nowhere! Just think how good you will feel once you have cleaned yourself up and found your self worth, then you will find someone who will show you love & life and not someone who makes a hole in your stomach and upsets your life. Go for it & lots of love and good luck.

You need to get yourself some counseling and some help. No, drugs are not the answer ever to any issues or problems that we face. It simply masks the issue to arise at a later date. You will need to get yourself clean so you can begin to think in a more clear manner. The only time you should be taking drugs on a consistent basis is if they are medically necessary. Please get yourself some help, leave the thoughts of the boyfriend on the back burner for now and think about yourself. He obviously can not help you, nor does he really care about you or he would never have done drugs with you. Really, an addict will not share their poison with someone they love and cause the same pain on another person that they care deeply for. You can get assistance with some outpatient rehab in most cities, or you can look for an inpatient care faculty. Or you could go to a NA: narcotics anonymous meeting and try that out, find a sponsor someone who is an addict however, clean and has been for sometime. Please get yourself some assistance and get yourself clean! Good luck to you, Love yourself enough, God bless

Drugs are never the answer. The only way to get off drugs is professional help. I dont care what anybody says you can not stop by yourself. You say you dont think about your ex boyfriend and how unhappy you are. So that means you`ll have to start to do more and powerful drugs to stay up longer in order to forget longer. Its a vicious cycle that never ends without help. You say yourself you feel guilty after using so you take more to forget feeling guilty. Eventually this will catch up with you and before you know it you will have to steal from whom ever you can just to get your drugs. All you are doing is hurting yourself and your family. Please get some professional help soon. Its not easy but with support from family and friends you can do it. If your are here looking for advice you already admit you have a problem and thats half the battle. There are lots of places to get help. Please check them out and do it. Only you can make that decision you are the one that must take control of your life. Good luck and I will pray for you.

I sympathise,
I started doing drugs 3 mothhs ago, pills and got a real high but the effect wore off and last week I started injecting and the high has come back, but the cost is crippling over six quid for a prescription for 28 days, thank god the injections are free, oh yeah the pills are high dose Vitamins and so are the injections, but I was in a bad way before I was diagnosed.
Try multivitamins 5mg B9 plus B12, no real side effects but certainly make you feel good, plenty of people sell these as all sorts of illegal drugs, just as much "heroin" has 0% Heroin content and folk get high on Batt Aid or washing powder.
It sure is a wierd world out there.

Drugs are not the answer.
Speak to a doctor or family member about your problem.
Your family lending you money for drugs is not helping either, be honest with them, tell them what is going on. The depression is probably a side effect of the drugs, when you stop using you will feel more confident and happier.
Get help now today, your doctor will be able to point you in the right direction for help.

Get into 1) health and 2) God. Quick fixes:

1) Go to a health food store and tell them what you just told us and do what they say. Read Men's Health magazine, it's very upbeat and helpful. Get on an exercise program Use green leafy foods, lots of water, reasonable rest, every day. Practice being grateful. Practice being kind.

2) Take a Bible study Course, like at www.bibleuniverse.com Read the Bible at least 15 minutes a day.

If you don't feel better in two weeks, ask your question again!

I have depression and recreational drugs are not the answer. You know you have a problem so go and see your doctor and don't be ashamed of signing on. The shame is lying to your family and you know that. You may be eligable for incapacity benefit. You require professional help and things will only get worse if you don't seek it. Asking for help is the hardest step to take but the only way to get better. Until you do you will not be able to lety go of the past and get on with your life.
