Anemia is low iron in the blood. Most teen age girls suffer from it due to various female reasons. Other reasons are disease, decreased intake of iron and blood loss. You can be born with anemia but if it the cause is not severe iron supplements take care of it and it goes away. There is a condition in which the body is unable to absorb certain nutrient which leads to anemia.
This is a more serious problem but usually can be dealt with medically.

Anemia is just a description of not having enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to all parts of your body. The symptoms include pallor, easy fatiguability, some weakness, and can even be dangerous and possibly life-threatening when severe.
There are many ways to develop anemia, but they fall into some broad categories, you can either loose blood (bleeding either externally or internally) you can destroy your red blood cells (a process called hemolysis) or you can not make enough red blood cells to begin with.
It it actually fairly common in young women who have a heavy period to be anemic, and you don't have to look far for the cause, loosing significant quantities of blood monthly will do it. So my advice to you would be to see your doctor, get a CBC (complete blood count), check your hemoglobin level and get iron studies if it's low. Probably it can be treated by iron supplementation, and you should feel better if your hemoglobin level goes up.

Anemia is most often a temporary iron deficiency and you can have it off and on through-out life. I had it when I was a teen and had mononucleosis and am experiencing it now during a pregnancy. I get it because I drink so much milk, and dairy products interfere with your absorption of iron.

I have anemia.I went to the doctor and they daagnosed me with sickle cell trait. So I believe so that it is from poor diet.Because I don't eat right. You could be born with it also too.So either way it seems like it to me.
