Of course we're happy, Kingreef. Why wouldn't we be? Everything in this life is doubly precious because it's all we have. The sun shines a little brighter, the air feels a little warmer, the birds sing a little more sweetly. Each day is a gift to be embraced, and there is much joy to be found in that.

I don't think you can use the theist/atheist split to make any useful prediction about happiness. We're no more happy or less happy than theists are.

I personally have days where I am very happy and filled with joy, and other days that are sad or even depressed, especially during the winters, when due to the short days I can be affected by Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD).

Many theists seem to think that since atheists generally do not believe in an afterlife that we must therefore feel hopeless. That is totally not true. I have a lot of hope for what I will still accomplish in this life, and even more hope for what my daughter will accomplish in her life.

Sure. Like anyone I have sad things that are just a part of life that I have do deal with, but generally I'm a happy person.

I'm a happy atheist. Most of the atheists i know are happy people. We are people just like everyone else... sometimes we get angry, depressed, what have you... we are just like religious people, only without the mythological worldview.
