I think Mexican ruling elite are just terrified that they might actually have to deal with the problems in their country if the poor and less educated can't be shipped to America for free education and health care. Why does no one ask Calderon and Fox to explain how they close their borders to illegals? Their methods are harsh. I can't understand why the State Department doesn't make use of that info versus letting us be Mexico's pin cushion!MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A U.S.-Mexico border fence aimed at keeping illegal immigrants out of the United States will "enormously complicate" relations between the countries, Mexican president-elect Felipe Calderon said on Wednesday.

President Bush signed a law last week that will pay for hundreds of miles of new fences along the border, a move against illegal immigration that Republicans had sought before next month's congressional elections.

Mexicans are livid about the plan, which is seen as a slap in the face to efforts during President Vicente Fox's near-completed six-year term to come to an agreement with Washington on immigration.

"It is going to be a very difficult relationship," Calderon, who takes over from Fox on December 1, said in a television interview of U.S.-Mexico diplomacy during his upcoming administration.

"This fence they are leaving me is going to enormously complicate relations with the United States."

Conservative ruling party candidate Calderon's victory over leftist firebrand Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in the July 2 election was seen as a foreign relations boost for Washington in Latin America, where anti-U.S. sentiment is high in some countries.

Carol R, Mexico would never allow terrorist to train in their country, unless they want to be bombed, their not that stupid. But they are stupid when it come to relations with the U.S. the gull of them saying it will strain our relations, it already has strained our relations, by sending their poor over here, instead of making sure they have good paying jobs their, and their government needs to have a minimum wage and make it law, and enforce it, to give their people a better life. It is the Mexican government and their total disregard for their own people, that should be ashamed, And people that support Mexico in their efforts to get rid of their own people should be ashamed. I don't care what Mexico thinks of us, we are tired of taking care of their people. Our relations have been strained for years and it's their fault.

Would love to... problem is one side wants to have individual liberties and the other side doesn't and as our liberties keep going away the time to fight is now. The two parties are at fundamental opposites right now and this country is being dragged into Socialism (yes I know exactly what Socialism is) and most Americans don't want to leave the system (Capitalism) that made us so strong and powerful in a very short period of time. I really don't think this argument will be ending any time soon unfortunately =(

Have we ever had a great relationship with Mexico? Illegals are crossing the border, taking our jobs, bringing drugs, taking advantage of our schools and living here tax free. If its that easy for Mexicans to run across the border, Whats stopping terrorists? I fully support the fence. Don't they get the meaning of the quote "Good fences make good neighbors"?

We even suggest putting an end to it and they have a COW. Well my guess is Americans will get over it if our relations with Mexico Sour. OOPS I'm over it allready. See how easy it'll be getting over not having Millions of Illegals pouring into our country.

No offense meant, but illegals are able to break laws and get deported, come back and break the law again. This type of fencing might help express to Mexico that they need to start working on their own problems.

I also want to express that it is VERY HARD for those who do get their visas and such to come to the United States so those who do get them feel crapped on by those of their own country who make a mockery of all their work. (I had a friend who went through all that work.)

I'll say no more as that I don't want to offend. But I hope what EVER is done helps. This problem has been going on a LONG time.

As far as I am concerned I don't want a good relationship with the country of Mexico any longer. In fact we don't have one now and haven't for a long time. We are being used and that is not a good relationship in any use of the word. As for the fence, we wil not be getting a fence. In that bill that the President signed is a clause that allows him to use the money allocated for the fence for other purposes. Since President Bush has stabbed all Americans in the back with his policy of open borders you can be sure that no fence will be constructed.

You will care when Mexico is offered large sums of money from real terrorists to train and plan a large attack on the U.S. Maybe you should get your heads out of your cracks and think about keeping our neighbors happy before they turn on us like MOST other countries have or are now doing.

I don't really count neighborly relations as enhanced by millions of illegals coming over to drain our education and other funds and to drive down worker wages. Me, I'll feel downright neighborly only when the fence is built AND Mexico cooperates to try to keep its own people on its own side of the fence.

I think the relationship has been damaged for a long time now (especially where the US LEGAL Citizens are concerned). It is nice to see they are now noticing this in Mexico.

Of course he's angry. It's not his fault, but he gets left with the problem. We still need to enforce the border, though, whether the Mexicans like it or not.
