it seems that they send a lot of british troops home, killed in friendly fire acts. i know that they kill quite a few canaidans that way as well, not to mention all the women and children, fu8k in the first few weeks of the war they killed more british troops than iraq's.

so is this biased news reporting in canada, are they that bad? or is it just "accidents" and since there is so many americans fighting it just seems like it is only them doing it? i don't remember hearing of a canadian or british guy killing someone in frendly fire

if so what do the americans have to do to get control of their armed forces? more discipline, better training (you brits should be able to help there), or just enlist people with better qualifications?

Take away the american dream. Stop trying to produce big heros for hollywood and learn about the real world. They are fed more bullshit by their government than any other democratic country. Keep the people infear so those in power can do what they want with the backing of the voters. A lot of other countries have a great past for controlling other countries at one time or another but not the states and I think that bothers the powers to be. Basically tell them the truth and then see who wants to go to war. Get rid of the Bush family.

It is war and you always get fratricide you should try going forward under a 'creeping barrage' and see how many shells are 'swingers' - go off course or fall short among their own troops and soldiers are carrying the most lethal of weapons and hyped to the gills because they want to live and at times fire first. In the UK Channel 4 showed a documentary and American troops were just shooting at anyone in Baghdad and a serious review is needed because if you are not in danger by someone who is armed, then shoot and you are a murderer

US is one hell of a huge place so of course they are able to send more troops out to war! Also the media coverage is going to biased into whatever country your in favour.
American's in general are naturally competative, sorry to say big headed and don't seem to see the bigger picture. Give someone like that a gun of course there's going to be friendly fire!

What can they do to get things under control? For a start get a president who isn't like them. How can someone say the troops are acting out of order if the most powerful man in the US is exactly like them!?

I'm not British so I won't presume to answer that question, except that one of my best friends is British and has quite a few other friends who are American. Why try to promote this kind of international bigotry? What is your purpose?

Your "facts" are erroneous. Nothing you said is truth. "A lot" and "quite a few" are not able to be justified with any actual numbers. You hear what the media wants you to hear. For those saying the government controls our minds, rest assured, the media does a much better job of that.

"Enlist people with better qualifications"? How many people do you personally know who are willing to do such a job for less than minimum wage pay when you take into consideration how many hours they work a day? Not to mention their living conditions and separations from family. When you are willing to give so much for your country, try your question again.

Support our soldiers ... they protect our right to live in peace.

We also have a lot of news reports along the same vein, and your question is slightly troubling as i have never heard of US troops being killed by friendly fire from other allied forces.

Comments made over the last few years in the news with regards to US troops being trigger happy cowboys (in the news yesterday), treating Iraqis like "untermensch", and also treating their own Iraqi support troops very badly too...however the criticism is laid at the feet of the US govt not it's people.

The soldiers themselves have no say in the way they are trained and very little experience of doing things differently, they also have no say in where they are sent or whom they are told to kill.

The US has a quasi-dictatorship govt which has fixed elections to keep it in power therefore it's people have very little chance to remove it. The media is controlled by vested govt interests, its economy controlled by the World Bank (Clinton tried to put health reforms through which the World Bank didn't like and low n behold the dollar starts falling until he shelved them), its economy relies on the fact that the dollar is the de facto oil currency (Saddam started selling oil in Euro's look what he got for it) and its foreign policy is to destroy all those who oppose their economic and political domination of the globe.

That said the US people themselves are just like any others, they want a nice life, food , shelter, education etc - they are normal people with normal lives, it's just their govt provides it for them by destroying the rest of the world and then lies to them about. The parallels to the Rome Empire are shockingly obvious to any historian which goes totally against the principles the British traitors who founded their country stood for.

I feel the same way about Americans as I do about all people - most of them suck but what can you do except look for the decent ones. :p

As far as military action goes I'd say I have serious questions about their military practices and aims. I haven't heard of any other troops killing foreign soldiers or journalists, but I haven't researched the subject and I doubt those are the kind of incidents the BBC would choose to lead with. It seems like they have similar problems to other armies, but either they're worse or we hear more about them. Not sure how you could fix it really, it's the nature of the job to cause those kind of problems I think.

I have spoken to a number of Australian soldiers who have seen active service with american troops and their verdict is that they are undisciplined and also cowardly, not being willing to attach anyone unless they outnumber them about 5 to 1. They also said they are incompetent in the jungle and can be heard and smelt for miles off. (This doesn't mean they are dirty but they wear aftershave etc and in the jungle where concealment is necessary they have no idea).

Personally I think the poor quality is due to the fact that in america you can join the army as an alternative to going to prison for a crime, whereas in most civilised countries you have to be respectable and have no criminal record to get into the armed forces.

some good points have been made here,so i wont repeat them . what bothered me was the feeling that the BBC was anything but impartial . Fox tv is basicaly propaganda wing of the right wing .. The British Broadcasting Corporation is a "not for pfofit" organisation (hard to comprehend for you US ppl) and only exists to give the facts as some of the best journalists in the world see them .
if nothing else -Britain still has the best media in the world .

I must admit, I am an American, and I'm completely ashamed of America. I imagine some of you know the stand-up comedian Eddie Izzard. He did his Circle show in Paris, and was asking the audience what he thought of the Germans, the British, etc. They responded positively. It was only when he got to America the response was a roaring, sincere "NO!"

I know about American troops, I have served with them. I want them in front of me, not behind. They are trigger happy and gung ho, attack anything without consideration no matter who they are. I refer you to the USS Vincenness which shot down an airbus by mistake in about 1983, despite having the most sophisticated fire control system in the world. Also the the very many incidences of "friendly" fire, killing a lot of allied troops. Now we have the US Marines firing on an Red Cross ambulance in Bagdad with tank shells to murder a Brit journalist. The US military? Cowards and Cretins.
