I too manage a Fine Wine & Spirits Shop, in Parksville, B.C.
I have a different opinion on Robert Parker his is the most expensive on-line site for tasting notes. There are many for free and even Wine Spectator is cheaper.

Gismondi on wine is a free site, he is an easy marker and has some prejudices, but most important in the flavour and aroma notes, not the # rating. I like an oaky white, if it is in balance, many would rate it low. A number rating is subjective. Just tell me what the wine is, I'll decide if I want to taste it.

I'm the wine mgr. for a large liquor store, so here's my take.

Honestly, I prefer the Robert Parker ratings over most. There seems to be a consistency with his ratings you won't find with some of the larger groups/publications. RP uses a very small, dedicated group who perform all of the tastings, while the others tend to have people in different cities who taste different things, and sometimes there bias' show. Parker may not have the highest quantity of wines rated, but he does have the best quality ratings IMO.
