Alright, so I babysat this neighbor's cat a few weeks back, and the daughter (my age, and in colorguard with me) gave a few things she bought for me on their trip. Among them, was a carved stone in the shape of a heart, and a light blue color. Nothing meant by it of course, as she is straight, and I'm currently dating one of the same sex. At the time, I didn't even think about it - I just simply accepted the paper bag, and thanked her. So yesterday I was looking in the bag, and saw the heart, and was like, "Amber would *love* this." I mean, she's crazy about light blue stuff, and the heart represents my feelings. And I've been looking for something for Christmas, and she isn't the easiest person to shop for, but I know she'd absouletely adore this. My question is, would it be proper to give it to her? I recieved it as a thank you gift, but I do not believe the girl I recieved it from would even know or care, but I would like to know if it'd be *proper* for me to give to another

This is called "re-gifting", giving someone a present that you received as a present. It is proper to re-gift, there is no rule that says every gift must be new, it only has to be from the heart. No pun intended.

How do you know for sure that nothing was meant by the gifts? You never know, maybe the girl has a thing for you but is afraid to let you know. Especially for her to have remembered you while on her vacation enough to buy you not one but a few little gifts is pretty nice. I know personally I wouldnt buy someone a heart as a gift unless they meant something to me or I wanted them to mean something to me.
The gift is yours and you can do with it what ever you want. I wouldnt go so far as to give it to the girl you are with now as a Christmas present though. Maybe as a just because gift before Christmas but not at Christmas because that would make me feel like I was being lazy and cheap. But that is just me and of course you are not me.

I do not re-gift simply for the reason that the person that gave it to me took time and effort to find it for me especially with my not knowing. Are you sure this girl does not have any feelings for you a heart is a special gift and means something very special that she can't probably express properly or is afraid to. She is sending you a special gift. make sure she does not notice you are not wearing it. That would make her very sad.
How would you like it done to you? that is one question you have to ask yourself also.

NO I think not this time. It is o.k. to re-gift,but in this case I would be carfull. What's happening if she ever ask :Why you not wearing it??? I would rather let some time go past maybe a year and then pass it on. Good Luck

Nothing wrong with "re-gifting" as long as the person who gave it to you wouldn't find out!

I would put my cards on the table, make sure you really know how she feels, it sounds like she thinks you are pretty hot.
good luck

You wouldn't be the first to re-gift.

No. That is called re-gifting, and it's tacky.

Hey, it's yours to do with as you please. I don't think that's is rude to "recycle" a gift, especially if you know someone else who would have better use of it.
