The myth that you can't train or teach an older dog is just that a myth. It may take a little longer and more persistence, but they can learn. Patience, praise, lots of positive reinforcement and love can due wonders. Our first dog was an extremely intelligent, stubborn, sneaky mutt (German Sheppard mixed with what we never knew, though we suspect chow, that weighed only 40 lbs). He was learning new tricks right up to the time that he died from Lyme disease at the age of 15. Our sons loved him to pieces and constantly taught him new tricks (some that we would rather they hadn't taught him). He returned the love a hundredfold and learned.

Yes, dogs love to learn new tricks at any age, because it makes their people happy. It might take a little bit more patience with an older pooch, that's all. Have fun!
