so my friend likes me, i'm pretty certain, but i don't like him and i know pretty much what i want to say to let him down gently. But how do you bring that sort of thing up? I don't want to just be like "hey we need to talk" out of no where cause I'd like to keep the mood kinda light. Any suggestions?

Wait for him to make a move, thats when you tell him. There is no reason to just bring it up out of the blue. What if you're wrong?

The best way to to answer is just to tell him straight forward. Guys like answers that are straight forward otherwise they start analyzing your answers. Just tell him that you're not ready for a relationship. It might hurt his feelings for a bit but if he really cares for you as a friend, he will understand. Life is not fair and everyone doesn't always get what they want.

just say dude you're cool and all but i sort of think of you as a brother and someone to tell all my secrets too (that's the key to a good "break up speech. always build up thier self-esteem and compliment thembefore you reject them.so they wont go home and kill themselves). like a best friend and i dont want to screw up a really really GREAT friendship for a boyfriend!!!

btw, i am really goos a b.s.ing! and this happened to me before and it works

Try making a distance from him in a way he can think you want something different then him, avoid mix signal or better come clean.

say nothing and act kinda cool until he asks you why then start the conversation of "lets just be friends" emphasize that your friendship is too important to you and you don't want to ruin it lol

Just tell him in a direct way, there is no sense in wasting your time and his, if there is no spark there.
