It's delicious, that's why. Orange Juice is a good source of vitamin C. Perhaps your body is telling you that you need more vitamin C. Oh well, its tasty though.

Your body may be needing Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid). It is a harmless condition. It is always best to choose the fruit itself, but should you insist on juice choose one with no additives - colour, flavour or preservatives, permitted or otherwise. You could try supplementing needs with Vitamin C. tablets 500 mg. (preferably film-coated or chewable). You could eat/chew/suck as many a possible per day as Vitamin C is non toxic even in high doses and has the function as an antioxident, disease prevention (possibly cure), immunity enhancement, skin-health-improver, etc. Some conditions as convalescence, pregnancy, diseases like diabetes etc. and nutritional need may increase your need for Vitamin C. Being an acid, it may upset your stomach especially in concentrated forms, especially if you have hyperacidity, gastritis or stomach ulcer. Chewable forms act also as mouth and throat disinfectants and may help resolve tonsillitis and sorethroat as well as sores in the mouth.
Another explanation for your craving for Orange Juice may be need for salt or sugar - due to sweating and hard work. The more you sweat the more the salt loss, and juice is a more natural and healthier way of getting salt than high salt food - and so with sugar too.
Any taste sensation is almost always connected with a body condition or the state of the gastrointestinal system. Your craving for orange juice is your body´s way of telling that your mouth needs this or that or your body lacks something or even a state of mind or thought or idea, you may have chanced upon. But it sounds like a benign and healthy one. Dont worry.
Good luck and get really healthy.

I believe that cravings are the body's way of asking for nutrients that may be lacking and needed for good health! I can predict my cycle by my cravings!! I always start craving Chicken Livers...it's the only time I even like them...my body's way of saying "give me iron!" So I do !! At least OJ is a good thing to crave..it's very very good for you...so I say drink as much as you like!!

Since this question is categorized under pregnancy...that's your reason. It's not odd at all to have cravings, no matter what time of the day. Keep drinking, btw - your body may be telling you that you need the vitamins that are in it. Take care!

Could be an electrolyte imbalance. Usually when you crave oj, the potassium in your body may be at a low level. A simple CBC blood count at your doctor's office will confirm this.

Either your body wanrts more Vitamin C or your stomach is too alkaline and needs more acid in it. Or you just dig the taste of OJ.
