In reality only about 25% of the field workers are illegals, the other 75% are Americans. So much for Americans not wanting those jobs. These are hard working Americans, some from Mexico who FOLLOWED THE RULES AND DIDN'T BREAK OUR LAWS, its a felony to do that in Mexico.
I know we'll do just what Mexico does on it's southern boarder, oh wait that means we'll arrest people, put them in jail, deport them oh my. And all they want is a better life.
And yes maybe my vegetable might, I say might go up in price. But what do I get in return, someone who pays taxes, federal and state. Lower unemployment rate, so I pay lower taxes. Sounds like a good trade to me. Think about it there are almost as many illegals working here as the number of unemployed people. if the illegals weren't here what would our unemployment rate be? Think about it.
Also think about this the person who illegal enters our country, is already breaking the law, what make you think they will respect our other laws?
Just my opinion

Do you realize there are alot of Americans and they are other colors than white?
They are taking jobs that white and black and brown and red and yellow Americans need and do. This lie has me so ticked off. You may have taken the jobs for less money or because a lousy company knew you wouldn't complain if something was un-safe or had you work too many hours or they didn't have to provide you the same things that they do Americans. It's not that white Americans or any other color of American won't do it.
I'm white and I hate air-conditioned offices. I did maid work and pulled dead chickens at a chicken farm and I packed sprouts at a sprout farm and my mom was a dreaded cafeteria worker and my dad worked in a god awful factory and did janitor work. I mow my own grass and take care of my own kids and trim my own bushes and grow my own vegetables and cook my own food. I worked my way through college without any aid and I speak 2 other languages besides English (no-Spanish) and I can't get a job coz I don't speak Spanish. This influx has not only taken jobs from Americans it's keeping qualified Americans from getting jobs.
The only "economy" your helping is making sure the bosses keep their excessive profits and Mexico has a steady income. Money sent from here back to Mexico is the 2nd biggest income for Mexico behind drugs of which I'm sure we also contribute quite heavily to. So spare me the price of vegetables routien. If we aren't able to buy it, it's gonna rot in the stores or in the fields and then you won't have a job either. The few rich aren't gonna be able to eat it all.........

Myth: Illegal immigrants are taking only jobs that Americans do not want.
Fact: Many illegal immigrants are able to work for less than market value because they don't pay income or Social Security taxes and are able to take their entire paycheck (or cash) home. This is not only unfair competition against employers who follow the law and pay employees "above the table," but it depresses the wage scale for Americans who would otherwise select jobs currently filled by illegal immigrants.
These are jobs that Americans "do not want" only because the illegal immigrants have depressed the wage scale for the positions. Take away the illegal immigrants, and wages would rise to the level where Americans would take the jobs.
For your information, studies show that should illegal immigration end tomorrow and illegal lettuce pickers were replaced by legal workers or machines, the price of a head of lettuce would go up less than twenty cents per head. I for one, am willing to pay the price.

You know, that is a tired old excuse. The problem with illegal aliens is they are illegal. My godson is half Mexican, his dad came here in the 60's married, became a US citizen, worked hard, provided for his wife and five boys, never took a dime of govt. assistance. My godson is 27, he is a registered nurse (makes more than $20.00 an hour) is married, has a child and another on the way. You know how he feels about this subject, I quote"If they want to come here and work they need to do it LEGALLY. Why should I pay taxes on my hard earned money and they don't have too?" See, illegal means illegal, that's the issue. So, drop the race thing it's a tired old worn out excuse.

Cuz they are.
I could go on and on but just a real life siteation recently. Needed some ditch diggers. Went out and checked with everyone I knew loooking for an American ditch digger. Used to be your odd, ex con or teenager to do some piece work like this. Not anymore. They are all gone, out of biz, cuz they can't compete with the Mexicans (and others like them). I got a Mexican gardner and his crew to do the work. I could hardly keep up laying pipe in behind them. They were like human gophers! Amazing! Good, hard working and dirt CHEAP!
So, like it or not, the illegals are so good at working for less, they put the rest out of biz. It didn't use to be like this. I could always find a grunt to dig for me. Only Mexicans now.
I would very much liked to have paid an American at least 30% more than I ended up paying but I could find no laborers who were legal citizens to do the work. It wasn't a question of wanting to do the work or not. The legit labor was simply not there.
So which egg came first? The American who used to be there to dig the ditch or the illegal, Mexican imm. who arrived last week?

How would you know? Since there are millions of people out of work and millions of jobs taken by immigrants, I think there are quite a few contrary views. And who said anything about $20 an hour? Hell, at my summer job I get paid $20 dollars a day for washing dishes, making salads, and taking out the garbage for 8 hours. I don't complain about that.

First off, I don't think that a very poor white person would be opposed to picking fruits and vegetables. Aside from that, I don't think illegal immigrants take our jobs. There would most likely still be an unemployment problem here. I do think that the immigration problem should be controlled, though.

I agree with what you are saying but in another twenty years they will be taking the white collar jobs and they deserve to take them. The parents make sure the kids get a good education and don't complain when they are given too much homework, are more concerned about what they are learning than saying prayers in the class and are willing to work the longer hours to get ahead. Young people today should be less concerned about being the next American Idol and more concerned about being the next Einstein.

Mentally handicapped people would love to have some of the jobs that illegal aliens are taking. Unfortunately, the response they get when applying for those jobs is... don't apply.
The result is that they can't get jobs and remain on public assistance.
That is reality, hon.

The bigger issue is that border jumpers dont have to pay taxes and have no identity so they are a security issue. Border jumpers can come into the united states and beat the system. They can get pregnant and run into a U.S. hospital and get their kids us citizenship. Their kids then go through the public school system with no desire to learn. And later go on welfare.
