I was wondering what it costs for the company to buy an engine, the new ones they use now.

New, with amenities (only the frame is standard equipment) about $2.2 million a copy.

A brand new loco costs around 1.5 million to 2.5 million depending on all the options ordered.

I think the new Dash 9's are a couple of million apiece. The older GP-40's can be bought used for about $400,000

Locomotives are like automobiles...the price depends on the options...You can spend anywhere from 1.5 to 2 million ..And the price is going up all the time...
