The best method is to cut in half, a cleaver or big knife works. Scoop out the seeds. Then place face down in a microwave safe dish in about a centimeter of liquid, I often use orange juice. This boiling liquid will do the actual cooking of the squash, rather than the microwave. Given the variation in microwaves, do this until they're soft. The OJ adds an extra dimension to the flavor, I'll mix in a little maple syrup and butter and then refill the squash rinds (quartered or halved) with the blended mixture, and run them under the boiler briefly to carmelize a little brown sugar on top. How much sweetener depends largely on who will be eating it. If it's to my taste, I barely add much butter or sugars at all. If someone is used to commercial yams, I add more.

Yes you can microwave acorn squash The best way to do it is cut it into fourths then put a wet paper towel over it that way it stays moist then microwave it for about five minutes check it and dampen the towel again and cook untill desired mushiness!!

Yes, you can. But, be careful. You'll need something to keep it moist. If you just put the squash in it will become hard and dry. Try cutting the squash and putting a mixture of rice, nut, raisins, and syrup in the cavity then microwave it.

I would think so. I would do this: cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, turn it cut side down in a shallow baking dish (maybe even put a little water in the dish) and microwave. Check it after maybe 3-5 minutes (my microwave is really strong).

Yes but it is better baked. If you do micro it then put some palstic wrap over it with a couple small holes to trap some of the steam.

Of coarse! It takes around ten minutes but its just as good as putting it into the oven. Oh and don't forget to put a small plate of water around it so you won't loose the moisture.

Of course you can, but why not take the little bit of extra time and do it right in the oven. A little butter a bit of brown sugar. MMM, Yummy.

Cut in half, place in dish with inch of water and nuke for 15-20 minutes. That should do it.

Yes but be sure to cut it up. If you put it in whole it will explode.
