the only real way to get the parasites they have...if they are intestinal parasites like roundworm and tapeworm...is if you had contact with their rear ends and/or their stool. You should be disinfected everything they put their little behinds on to make sure their are no eggs dropped at those sites and potentially picked up by you. If you want to lessen the stress of cleaning try confining them to a small room for awhile until the parasites are cleared up. You can ask your doctor about doing a stool check for you and that will help eliminate the possibility of parasites. Goodluck with you and your kittens and your baby! Any other questions feel free to contact me.

You didn't mention what type of parasites were found. In any case, intestinal parasites of kittens (and adult cats, dogs, etc.) are zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted to humans. This happens by fecal to oral transmission which doesn't mean that you have to have actual poop on your hands. The eggs are microscopic and are being shed so even if you have just been playing with your kittens or your kitten cleaned it's anal area during normal "bathing" and then licked your face for example, it is possible for you to get a parasite. Many intestinal parasites are able to cross the placenta and infect the fetus. To be on the safe side you should call your OBGYN and they will tell you what you should do. Most likely they will request a stool sample from you. Also, as mentioned by others, there is a parasite called Toxoplasmosis that cats (even kittens) can carry (they don't usually get sick themselves unless their immunity is compromised) and pass on to humans, usually when cleaning the litter box. Pregnant women should never clean litter box. Many people, if they have been around cats a lot, will already have been infected with Toxoplasmosis (flu-like symptoms) and not even know it. Then they build up antibodies and are now immune to it and your baby would also have that immunity in utero. You can have a titer drawn to see if you have the antibodies, however since you are already pregnant, would be useless since the test is not sensitive enough to tell if old or new infection. Please call your OBGYN, if nothing is found at least your mind will be at ease!! Hope this was helpful, good luck!!

They could be. Pregnant women should not clean litter boxes because of a parasite carried in feline feces. I would get checked out at the doctor if you don't start feeling better as the parasite can lead to birth defects.

Dont get freaked out to much by what people say but i would contact your obgyn regardless the vomiting could dehydrate you and the baby and a phone call to your ob will help decide if you need to go into the ER tonigt for IV therapy... please dont take any chances god bless you and they little one and let us know how your doing...

YES it is! Cat feces contains a natural parasite that may not make them ill but it will cause major birth defects to your unborn child. Read the warning label on your bag of litter, it contains a lot of useful information and who to call if you think you may be experiencing a negative reaction. I'd make an app with your OB ASAP!

Pregnant women are not supposed to touch litter boxes. Have your family do it for you.

The way that you would get parasites from the kitties is if you touched their poop or vomit and didn't wash your hands. You should always wash your hands no matter what.

You most likely didn't get anything from the kitties, but don't touch their litter boxes and please go see your obgyn because there is always a chance you did, but you dont' want to take that chance...

I have heard that pregnant women should not be around litter boxes, I guess you can pick up something. I don't know what, but you'd better check with your doctor and your vet.

Depends, if the kittens have tapeworms, then you probably got it from cleaning up the puke. If it's not tapeworms, you probably just ate somehthing that didn't agree with you.

Duh, when you are pregnant, your body is not your own. I am betting on the pregnancy causing your barfing. But I do agree that you need to keep in contact with your OB-GYN about this. All animals have germs.
