Find a reputable dog breeder who will sell you a puppy that is not show quality. Getting one from the local paper is a huge risk, as well as from a pet store. Stay away from those. Your chances of getting a sick animal or one that isn't what they say it is, is great. To find a reputable breeder go to some local dog shows and visit the Toy Breed rings. Talk to some people there. You will gain a lot of information and your chances of getting a healthy, lovable pup will be much better.
Another option: Check Chihuahua and Pomeranian Breed Rescue Groups in your area. You can search on Google for them.

Best wishes puppy hunting.

Good Luck.

Getting a puppy is very exciting, but it's also a huge responsibility! I am wondering if you have done your research, as you misspelled the breed of both dogs.

Poms and chichuahuas are very different. Yes, they are both small, but most people who are attracted to one breed, are not as attracted to the other.

I encourage you to go to dogbreedinfo.com and other sites to explore the differences in these breeds. Also, you should talk to a veterinarian about it. Make an appointment for a new puppy consult with the vet you want to use.

Puppies are a huge financial responsibility. If you are looking for a "cheap" pup, for a good pet owner, there's no such thing. Your puppy is going to need 3-4 sets of vaccinations, a rabies vax, dewormings, monthly heartworm preventative and flea and tick control for the rest of her life, not to mention all the unforseen costs(dentals, special diets, meds and emergency care).

Every day more than one person posts an urgent message on this site regarding a sick pup that hasn't been vaccinated, and the owner can't afford to hospitalize it. Nothing is worse than watching your puppy die, knowing you haven't properly planned for her wellness.

Good luck:)

Try your local animal shelter or humane socieity. We just had a litter of Chihuahua's born last week.....both parents surrendered with papers so these pups will be papered too. Adoption fees run anywhere from $5 to $100 so you could come out "cheaper" than you planned to begin with.

Good luck finding one in that price range. If you do, it will be the quality that you would expect for that kind of money.
