So what is life like in Atlanta? I've visited there a lot so I know that the shopping is pretty good for the south but what is it like to live there? Especially in the Buckhead area. Is it slightly similar to New York? And is the nightlife good or boring and cheesy?

Life in Atlanta is just ok to me. Buckhead is nice, but very pricey. Atlanta is not like New York, its in a class by itself. You can't compare New York to any city because no city is like New York to me, its the city that never sleeps. The nightlife is ok here, it can get boring at times. The clubs don't stay open that long (most close at 3AM) like most major cities.

Here is the good, the bad and the ugly about Atlanta...

The Good: The Falcons, this city loves them and has a lot of team spirit for them. The job opprotunites are good because there are various industries here. The homes are reasonably priced and you can make a good life for yourself and your family. You will find people from evey culture here and from every state too. There are a lot of excellent colleges here. There are so many people from other places that you would probably forget that you are in the south.

The Bad: Crime is really rising here, especially in Clayton County. There are a lot of terrible traffic accidents and deaths on the freeways and roads. The public school system sucks, its number 49 in the country so if you have kids, you would be better off sending them to private school.

The Ugly: Traffic is a total nightmare and the city isn't trying to do much about it. The transit system is horrible so you have no other option but to drive because you still have a lot of "old southern" minds in office who don't want the city to grow.

I hate atlanta, I went there and to me it seems like it is a knock off of all of the hip places in America. You know how you have the real thing then someone buys the knock off and it looks similiar, but something is not quite right about it. It doesn't look genuine, well that ATLANTA!

Atlanta has successfully recreared the LA car culture in the east.

if you like chain restaurants, you'll be in pig heaven.

Otherwise, head an hour or two east to Athens, GA, if you want a scene resembling culture and a hip scene.

Marietta in Cobb County is a nice suburb. I don't know anything about Buckhead though. I've heard it's nice. Elton John has a place there, and Coretta Scott King lived there when she was alive.
