I like to hunt with a Ruger Super Blackhawk hunter in .44 magn with the 7 1/2 inch barrel. I'm wonder which bullet to use a 300 grain cast core from federal or 240 grain jacketed hollow point from American Eagle(federal). For bear (black)

I think the 300 grain would provide alittle more knockdown power on impact. Remember, shot placement is very important on large, dangerous game! Good Luck! Be Safe!!

Yo dude. I would go for the cast core for penetration. The last thing you need is a hollow mushrooming only to be deflected off a rib of something.
Personally, i would not challenge the master of the house without a Redhawk chambered to .454 casuell... It's 1 and 1/2 the energy of the 44.

What does it matter? Either will kill it if you can aim your gun.

Sounds like you are hunting for thrill not food. Bet you will not eat a bite of that Bear meat.

Why not just get a nuke and blow up the whole area. That will for sure kill your limit and give you all the braging rights you could ever want. Or get a couple of sticks of dynamite and maybe he will pick it up with his mouth and blow his head off and you could film it so show to all hour hunter friends and show the kids how daddy killed something. Makes for a big man..

Sorry I guess I can't stand a person who hunts for thrill.

the 300 gr cast bullet is better for penetration issues but if you are shooting over 75 yrds then i'd recommend the 240 gr nosler partition bullet.

Daddy always told me: If you want to cause discontent downrange, send a big bullet.
