It means that you've never financed anything to prove yourself credit worthy. Try applying for a small (less than $1000 credit card) to build your credit. You could also apply for a department store credit card. Just be sure to never leave a balance, paying it off monthy.

Apply for a major credit card or a department credit card. Do not go over 1/3 of your credit limit and pay it off on time each month. Do this for 6 months and your credit score with increase. Now you will able to get a loan. You got to open some lines of credit that will increase your credit scores in order to obtain a loan.

Its very important to establish a credit history. This is very easy to do but it takes some time. Go into your bank or credit union and explain to them that you are trying to establish credit. Ask them if they would give you a "secured loan" for $500 - $1,000. The money that you borrow will not be given to you, but instead will be placed into a CD at the bank. The bank will loan you this money because they are not actually giving it to you. After you repay the loan over the next 6-12 months, the bank will give you the money in the CD. This obviously doesn't solve your short term need for money, but it is a very effective method for building credit.
