I made ham and bean soup. I did not use any additional salt in the recipe other than what salt was already in the ham. I was told to try puttng a potato in while cooking, however I was not successful. Any suggestions or do I just chalk one up to a salty batch?

Try pouring out some of the watery stuff and adding more clean water and cooking it for another half an hour or so. It's about the only way to salvage it.

PEEL a raw potato, cut it into four pieces, and try again when the soup has cooled a bit.

try a spoon of sugar, or serve over rice-either will take some of the heat out
